Default Favorite family board games?

We are long overdue for a night in with the kids and just playing a game.

Sadly, we haven't done it in a long time because Dusty and I are beyond tired of Monopoly.

What does your family enjoy?
Our kids are 16, 12, and 8.

We love Life, Yahtzee, Skipbo, and a dice game called Sharp Shooters!

We play a lot of games when the kids are with us, so I'll be watching this thread to get ideas for more!

My kids are younger, but I think any version of apples to apples is probably fun! We have played quite a bit of monopoly deal recently. I pretty much refuse to play the full version because everyone gets bored with it, but we like the card game. Other ones that come to mind are phase 10, Pit, or dominoes.

Qwirkle is a big favorite of all of us (ages adult and boys 9 and 20)
Rummikub is our second favorite, but often Logan needs a little help or he misses the big complex moves

I don't have Blockus, but I've heard it's awesome. It's meant to be for 4 players so I haven't gotten it since it's rare that my oldest son is available to play.

We play Mouse Trap, Monopoly (our game has a quick version that lets you tally up everything on sheets after a certain time limit to see who won or to go back to later if you want to finish the game), Monopoly Jr., Monopoly Town, Life, Pay Day (a BIG favorite around here), UNO (the other HUGE winner!), and a few others that randomly make it out of the game closet.

My kids are 10 and 12 and I second Blokus. You really do have to have four players or it's not as fun, but it's great to play with the kids, the grandparents, anybody.

We also like Clue and card games like UNO and Crazy Eights, Skip-Bo and Yahtzee.

We are a serious Scrabble family! Other than that, when it is a bigger group, Phase 10 and Apples to Apples.

Well, Mark and I have a group of friends we love to play board games with--Settlers of Catan (with all the add-ons!), Apples to Apples, Pictionary, Scene It (though that's kinda old!)

Qwirkle & Blokus are GREAT! We also like Ticket to Ride. Joel's a board game geek- he likes to play a ton of others like Power Grid, Dominion (Luke loves this one, too!), Fresco (I think we'll all like this one, but it's new and we haven't played it yet.).

We also like Yam-Slam. It's similar to Yahtzee, but different. lol How's that for descriptive?

I love all these suggestions!

I think we actually still have Yahtzee but I'll have to pick some other games up!

We love The Game of Things. It's a fun game for adults and kids alike. That's one reason we love it so much. We don't have to dumb it down or alter it for our 9.5 year old to play! Plus it makes her feel like a big kid.

We've been playing a lot of Small World recently (Wil Wheaton did it on his TableTop show if you want an overview of it).

We also love Settler's of Catan and Ticket to Ride.

And some card games we really like are Fluxx (card game where the rules and objective always change..it's a hoot), SkipBo and Racko.

One of our favorites (we play it a few times a week) - our 6 year old loves it - Ticket to Ride.

I love all these games too!! Our kids are still young, but we play these when we get together with friends sometimes.
Also - I second/third the Ticket to Ride!! There are a few different versions, but it's great! Kind of like Settlers of Catan, just a different era and not so many rules. LOL

My younger kids can't play but Peter and I LOVE to play Carcasonne and Bananagrams. We were also introduced to Settlers of Catan and a card game called Flux. Those are next on our list to get.
