LOL RQOTD: Cuddling vs Sleeping

I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep, and while I was laying there my mind was wandering to "do other people really lay like this?"

In the movies the girl is always cuddling on the guy's chest, or they are spooning. Dude. I can't sleep like that.

How do you sleep? Nosy minds want to know.

I'm all for cuddling/spooning to watch a movie or just chill, but I need my own freaking space to actually sleep.

I sleep by myself and when we do share the same bed, it's get away from me, I'm sleeping! lol

Don't get me wrong, we have our fair share of cuddling, spooning and all that fun stuff. But when it's sleepy-time (as I like to call it), I'm off limits.

I can't have anyone touching me when I sleep... Mark hates it because he wants to cuddle and I just can't get sleep like that LOL

tho, the baby doesn't bother me because I know he needs the touch to know we're there when he needs us but most times I even scoot him over to cuddle with Mark after nursing so that I can get some sleep before the next nursing session LOL

We have a king-sized bed and we actually have a hump in the middle because we stay on our own sides...except for that other stuff.

Yep, it's time for a new mattress.

I'm not a cuddler when sleeping at all. BUT some people are- my parents included. I just like my own space and the hubby seems to radiate heat. We have a King sized bed, too. lol.

Cuddling and spooning is for...other things, lol. For sleeping we sleep on our respective sides and even not facing each other. We started doing this because one time early in our marriage my husband was dreaming (apparently he was some kinda action hero) and he threw a punch. It only hit my shoulder, and not that hard, but it was enough to wake me up and mortify him

ETA: Oh, sometimes we fall asleep holding hands...not sure if that qualifies as cuddling

Glad to know I'm not alone

James and I have this entirely different thing we do. I want the closeness of cuddling but I need my own space. We are both side sleepers so we learned that we could lay back to back, and still be skin to skin but he doesn't bother me LOL. We lay that way at least 6 nights out of 7. If for some odd reason I can't get comfy I'll turn over.

I had a tooth pulled a few weeks ago and my face was swollen so I couldn't lay on that side...I missed our snuggle!

Sometimes we spoon but most times I'm laying on my right side, facing away from him and he is on his right side facing my back...but there is space between us and then he has his hand on my butt rubbing or sometimes draped over my waist.

No way...king size bed and we sleep on either side. Sometimes Brian will roll over in his sleep and snuggle up behind me and it wakes me up every single time b/c he is so dang hot. It's like sleeping with a furnace and so I end up pushing him back over to his side lol.

all of the above, depending on the mood and how loud Jer is snoring. Mostly though it's each on their own side of the bed, in their pillow bubble(we each sleep with THREE pillows every night).

OMG Heather...you are cracking me up!!!

The boys always slept cradled next to me in my right arm on the outside of the bed. There is NO way I could have ever put them in the middle. DH is such a sound sleeper and he would have rolled right over on them!!! The boys were so snuggled in to me...I loved it!!! I sure miss those days!!

To answer the questions...by the rare chance that DH and I actually go to bed at the same time....we may snuggle for a few minutes but I need my space....he would be asleep in two seconds and I would still be laying there.......wanting my own space......

OMG, I'm all about GET OFF ME!!! Dh shakes in his sleep and it drives me insane! So mostly he sleeps on his left side, I sleep on my right side, facing away from each other and then, of course, the cat sleeps on top of me. That's all the cuddling I can handle when it's time to sleep.

We snuggle/spoon a little bit and then one of us rolls over. But we have a double and it's a pillow top (there doesn't seem to be much surface space on our pillow top...so werid!) so we are always touching each other be it butt to butt, etc.

I sleep alone - LOL - but when DH was alive we usually would lay on our backs with my head on his shoulder while we talked about things but once it was time to sleep we both needed our space and would sleep back to back.

we're both side sleepers and sleep facing opposite each other. I can't stand for him to be touching me when i'm trying to sleep.. he's SO hot it's like sleeping w/ an electric blanket on high.. just GO AWAY lol he's not a cuddler, either.

HAAAAAAAAAA! I'm obviously still the newlywed of the bunch because we totally fall asleep with my head on his chest and his arm around me. LOL Now granted, since I'm pregnant, i can't stay in that position very long (cause I either end up with my hips hurting or having to pee), so usually about an hour or so after we've fallen asleep, I roll over to my other side. Even then, I usually still put my feet over on his legs so we're still touching.

Sappy. I know. LOL

After over 5 years, we still have to be touching while sleeping. When he's gone, I have a hard time getting used to sleeping without touching him

I don't think it's sappy, I think it's sweet. While I need my own space, James and I like to be touching. This is after 2 years but I can't imagine it changing. If I have to sleep alone (it's rare but sometimes he has to stay up grading and I'm exhausted), he tucks me in and puts a body pillow at my back so I think he's there LOL.

I actually spoon DH and we hold hands under the pillow. We have a King size bed, but we only use the middle, lol!

And Heather, we've so been there with our three boys! lol! We still wake up some days 4-5 in the bed!

We spoon but when it's time for me to go to sleep I kick him across the other side of the bed. He has a habit of putting his legs on me and it really annoys me, he is always hot as well which then makes me hot and annoyed even more lol. I like to have space to get to sleep!!

Definitely not sappy! We've been married nearly 10 years (March) and I still fall asleep with my feet on Andrew's legs. It's mostly because my feet are ice blocks and his legs are ovens, but it still happens nightly.

Once my feet have warmed up, I'm on the edge of my side and he's wherever he winds up.

We sleep in separate rooms because of his snoring, but when we used to sleep in the same bed, we never touched each other. Even his foot couldn't touch me. LOL

We sleep right next to each other normally but since the accident my husband was in he still has pain from the broken ribs so we sleep in seperate beds. I cant sleep well without him next to me so i am not getting a whole lot of sleep. He has refractured the ribs twice so i'm hoping they heal soon and stop hurting so much so at least our sleeping habits can get back to normal

There is a short cuddle period before sleep & then he rolls over on his left side and I stay on my right side & we sleep back to back.

10 years of marriage, a king-size bed, and we still fall asleep spooning. But usually a couple hours into it I have to scoot over because like some of the ladies mentioned about their husbands, my hubby is an OVEN! He radiates some much heat it's unreal.

We snuggle/cuddle until DH is about to fall asleep, then he rolls onto his stomach and I roll so my back is against his side. Cuddly, but not confining.

When I was married, I would always face away from him in bed when it was time to sleep. When we were talking or whatever, yeah, totally, face to him, but... sleeping? No. I would face the other way. He always wanted to cuddle with me laying against his chest, face towards him. Finally, we decided "Okay, maybe I just really prefer laying on one side to sleep," so we switched sides, therefore making me face him in bed.

...my side preference shifted and I STILL would face the wall rather than him.

We just chalked it up to, I like to sleep without the added cuddly stuff.

Cuddling is awesome. I love to do it. But when I'm sleeping, dude, friggin' let me sleep, man.

With Kyle, I didn't even like his arm to be around me or anything.

Here is my half, here is his, let's stick to our own sides. Lol

he likes me to lay my head on his chest but its not comfortable for me. i don't mind spooning, but the heat his body radiates is crazy so i pretty much prefer to be left alone lol.

What IS it about them that makes them do that? It drives me batty. I'll be downstairs (our downstairs is underground) with the space heater on, hoodie, fuzzy pants, socks and a blanket and he can sit there shirtless and he's not cold.

my hubby is an oven too... he sleeps in a sheet and I have a quilt, blanket, and the comforter on top of me!!

Hubby and I use to cuddle when we were first married... but then about 5 years ago, he was diagnosised with sleep apnea and uses a CPAP... I can not STAND cold air blowing on me, so we have a wall of pillows along us so that if he turns toward me that air isn't blowing on me.

I'm all for cuddling while sleeping, but DH is definitely a "Get the heck away" sleeper. My 5 year old has sleep problems and about 3 nights a week I end up in his bed or he comes into ours. It's like having my own baby monkey clinging to me while I sleep, and I sleep just fine like that.

We used to sleep near each other until I would heat up like an oven because he runs so hot. I used to like touching him though, like with a leg or foot. But since my son was born, my son is the one heating me up and sleeping sideways so there is not much room for dad anymore--poor mister

We loooove to snuggle, but once it's time to sleep we're both pretty hands off. I'm a side sleeper and Jordan starts out on his stomach, so it's a little hard to manage (although I have done like someone else mentioned and snuggled up with my back to his side when I need some extra comfort some nights).

But, there are also times like this morning, where we fall asleep cuddling. He decided to go into work late and we hadn't snuggled in a while (the belly, and the tossing and turning all night, and the pillow between the knees all make it difficult) so he kicked Tiger out of the middle and snuggled up to spoon. We fell asleep like that for maybe an hour so and it was really nice. I tend to fall asleep really easily when he spoons me (I like big strong arms around me). But then he's also an oven, so I woke up my pj pants were soaked in sweat. Not sexy. LOL!

Also? Replace the baby in Heather's images with a dog, and you've got Tiger. Except the jazz hands one, lol. She looooooooooooooooooves to be smack dab in the middle of us, up as high on the bed and she can sneak. Cute, but not great for sleeping, lol. I've taken to kicking her down to the foot of the bed anytime I wake up because my belly just can't take it. She's an oven too, lol.

There's no way I can sleep touching him. Not only is he always hot and sweaty, but he randomly passes (smelly!) gas throughout the night. GAG.

We have a king size bed, and there's usually a pillow or blanket(s) in the 'no (wo)man's zone' between us to be sure I don't get sucked into his hot sweaty stinky vortex.

Finally, we decided "Okay, maybe I just really prefer laying on one side to sleep," so we switched sides, therefore making me face him in bed.

Lol
hahaha! We tried that too, but it all comes down to my dislike for breathing his air, so I have to turn the other way. I just can't stand breathing in someone else's exhale.

OMG me too! It makes me all panicky like I'm not going to get enough oxygen or something. Which is dumb, but....

It's not just James' either. I don't want to breathe in my own exhale either, for the same reason, so I won't put my head under the blankets.

My hubby and I have separate bedrooms so when it's sleepy time, we go to our own spaces and sleep.

the gas. This is totally us.
I love to cuddle but when I'm tired, I'm tired and I want to be left alone unless he's going to rub my back.
