Default Transition from PSE to PC cc

I really want to upgrade Lightroom to the newest version 5.6 on the cloud. With Lightroom I will also be getting PS cc. I've been using PSE for years and I feel like it is such a big learning curve to switch from PSE to PS. Did any switch from PSE to PS? How did you learn all the functionalities?

I really would appreciate any tips and tricks.

Here is what I'm struggling with. In PSE it was soooo much easier.

1. How to add elements to the scrapbook page? In PSE all my opened elements were in the strip below. All I had to do is drag and drop.

2. How add drop shadows? In PSE I had several drop shadows to choose from. All I had to do is to select the element, the the drop shadow and click Apply.

3. How to resize? In PSE I select the element and simply from the corner drag it out or in to change the size without losing the proportions.

I know there is sooo much more to learn. If I choose to go with the cloud version I really do not see a point of keeping/upgrading version of PSE.

Any help is appreciated it.

You'll get used to it soon! I know it seems overwhelming at first. But PS has much more possibilities and once you get the hang of it, you'll never want to go back.

1. I just drag my elements from explorer right into my canvas in PS. It is placed as a smart object that way, if you want to recolor it or do any other image adjustments to it, you need to rasterize it first (right-click -> rasterize)
You could also go to file/open and then open the elements individually.

2. For dropshadows you could make a set of your own and save them as layer styles. Just play with the settings until you're happy with the result. You do that by double clicking the layer and then go to the dropshadow menu. To save a style, click 'new style' and give it a name. In PS 6 you can have a window open with all your styles so you would just select an element and click on the corresponding drop shadow style in the styles window. If that window is not visible, you can open it in the Window menu.

3. resizing without losing proportions: hold the shift key while dragging.

Some other helpful tips:
When the move tool is selected, make sure auto-select is checked at the top left of your screen. This way you can just select layers by clicking on the elements in your canvas.

Under Edit/preferences/general, select zoom with scroll wheel. Makes it much easier to zoom in and out.

Good luck!

I would think so. I'm pretty sure I did when I went from PSE6 to CS4
