Default who is watching...

Diane Sawyer's interview with Jaycee Dugard? It is on tonight at 9 EST. I am really interested in hearing what she has to say and how she managed to get through what she went through for so long. It is such a sad thing but also a happy moment Im sure for her. I cannot imagine being her mom and getting the call that they found her so many years after she was kidnapped.

Yeah, I have my DVR set. I'm more interested in reading the book she's got coming out. It's really supposed to tell it all. What an amazing story. Heartbreaking, but amazing.

I watched it and now I want the book. She reminds me so much of my SIL, like a brunette version. They have the same mannerisms and facial expressions! Besides that, she came across as totally honest and unashamed, as she well should be. I like that she doesn't see him in her kids and loves them without resentment and has so carefully guarded their privacy. So brave. It was great to see her with her Mom too. Made me teary.

yes me too. I am amazed by her outlook on life after all she went through. And I loved how honest she was. I will be looking for the book as well. Im so happy she was found too for her sake and for her mom's. She never gave up hope.

I was really moved by how well she is doing despite that horror she went through. She is such a beautiful and sweet person. It's so awesome that she has revealed her situation so that other victims of sexual abuse will be given hope and hear her message that they don't have to be ashamed. I'm so glad she has a wonderful counselor to work with. I hope Jaycee and her daughters will live a happy life.

One thing that rather surprised me was the lack of mention about her stepdad. I remember when Jaycee was first found that a news report said originally her stepdad was questioned and suspected in her disappearance. He had seen her dragged into a car matching the description of the Garrido's car, but he wasn't widely believed. It seemed that suspicion broke up his marriage to Jaycee's mom. Once Jaycee was found, his name was totally cleared in her disappearance. But tonight's story gave a one second mention that Jaycee wasn't close to him and that was it. Weird.

It didnt say but does her daughters and her mom attend counseling as well? I would feel so incredibly guilty being in her moms shoes and wondered if it mentioned how she handles those moments when they come.

I would think the daughters would be in counseling. All those girls know is captivity... If Jaycee is 30 and she gave birth at 14, her daughters were 13 and 10ish when they were set free. It sounds like even though Jaycee was a child herself, she raised the girls to be good people. Can't imagine a teenager trying to homeschool without any supplies, but she sure did. I love her spirit, and her ability to move on and not dwell on what was taken from her.

Amazing story. I wanted the book, but I'm not sure if I can read it. It breaks my heart.

I feel the same. I couldn't sleep last night. I was pretty upset just from the upbeat interview that Jaycee gave. I'm sure the book, which says it will reveal all, will not be upbeat. I'll buy the book, in support of her, but I doubt I'll read it.

As for counseling, I believe her daughters are in counseling. One of the things they talked about in the interview was that Jaycee took some of the money she received from the State of California to start an outreach/counseling program for families of sexual abuse victims. She obviously values counseling.

Did anyone watch Good Morning America today? I was too raw to watch it, but I am curious how it went.

My husband and I watched it last night. We were so impressed and inspired by how well she seems to be doing. It's so unbelievable what happened to her. I mean, of course I believe it did happen; but it's just so horrendous that it seems more like a story, ya know. Like, it just seems too awful to have really happened to someone; and yet it did, and she seems to be handling her life now remarkably well.

One thing that struck me was how innocent she really was when they kidnapped her. She had no idea how babies were made when he started assaulting her. Yet at just 14 she was a mother and then to start a homeschool of sorts for her girls was also inspiring. She only had what a fifth or sixth grade education? That was just amazing.
