Default How much did you spend on...

Your wedding cake?

We are doing a small reception 30-40 ppl when we get back from Hawaii and we are trying to decide on a cake. Here is a glimpse at what we want.

Question is how much is normal price for this kinda cake? I have never had to purchase a wedding cake of any kind so I have no idea how much I should be looking to spend.

Thanks for any help you guys can be.

Kim, I purchased a 3-tier marspian cake from the QFC on 145th in Seattle 10 years ago for less than $150. It was for 150, so you wouldn't need something as big. They actually contracted out to a popular bakery in Ballard that listed the same cake for twice a much. Good luck!

Mine was huge for 300 people and was about $300, I believe. It was also 10 years ago.

Around here, that cake in the photo would be around $75-100.

7.5 years ago we spent $150 on this cake:

We had 70 guests and a LOT of cake left over.

I've gone to a couple weddings in Seattle and they used The People's Cake. When I looked up their web addy, I saw their minimum charge is $300, which doesn't surprise me.

Mine was about $350, but my maid of honor paid for it as our wedding gift. It was 3 tiered and fed about 100 people (we only had 85 show up).

That is exactly who I have been emailing...they still haven't gotten back to me on a final quote but I did see that their min. charge is $300.

Sheri do you have a pic of your cake?

Kim, I don't have a photo handy (it's on my to-do list to scan in my wedding photos). Sorry! It was off white with a decorative pattern "etched" around the side of the cake tiers within the marzipan. My florist decorated the top and base with red roses. QFC has a look-book if you're ever in the neighborhood of one of their stores. Good luck!

Thanks Sheri and GL with the scanning of the wedding photos. I haven't even begun to scan all my old photos from when my oldest 2 sons were small...poor kids. I don't know when I will ever get to it either....

Kim a friend of mine actually makes cakes for a living. I could email her a picture and how many people you are having and get an idea of cost for you.

Sure that would be great Jessica. As much info as I can get about how much these cakes cost the better.

Ours was free....a longtime friend of the family did it!! My dad used to decorate cakes as a hobby way back in the day and I really wanted him to make mine so this was the next best thing!! We had over 350 guests at our wedding!!

my mom made our wedding cake . she made 3 cakes, small medium and large and bought one of those cake stands. she iced it in white and put little fake flowers and leaves on it and and my Yesterdays Child bride and groom figurines. it turned out so cute! and cheaper than having one made lol. i'll have to find a picture...

Here we count about 5 euro per person on a wedding cake.
I didn't have one at my wedding though....there was no time for it.

My baby shower cake was 3 tiered, and it was about $150, but it was by a lady just going into business- she charges more now.
