Default Printing "poll"

Trying to decide what size to print my pages in. So I'm asking. ... 8x8 or 12x12?

I print 12x12. They are big....but sooo fun!! My girls love looking through them.

All of my bound books are 8x8.

I'll be printing loose pages, because I don't scrap in order.

I print 8x8, I love the size. I don't scrap chronologically either.

I print 8x8. LOVE the handy size. It's much easier for my kids to grab an album and flip through it too.

I printed 8x8s for my father's day gifts I gave out, and they were okay. I just can't decide if I want to go that route for the full albums I plan to have. I've only ever printed one album before. It was 12x12. 3 paper albums I've made were 12x12, and I made one 8.5x11. So.... I'm just not sure
Lol

I also print 8x8 loose pages - I love the smaller size. All my paper albums are 12x12 and are so bulky and cumbersome that I wish I had the time to do all those photos over in digital.

I also print 8x8. !2x12 just seems HUGE to me, but I know some people (Kjersti) who really love that big size. It's really just a matter of preference.

I love looking at my 12x12s, but I'm not sure I can justify the price... :/

I tend to scrap really 'full' busy pages with lots of photos, so I choose to print mine loose at 12x12 and keep them in my binder albums. I do have some year-ineview type albums that I buy as bound books in 8x8 size... those are nice but I feel like I have to be careful to not add too much journaling or small photos to those.

Good point. .. I am always worried about the text size. I don't commonly use tons of elements and small photos, but journaling on some pages is extensive. I have thought about different albums different sizes... but haven't decided which albums get which sizes. :/

I'm so indecisive! !!

If you have anyone in your family with vision issues I would consider the 12x12.

I've had a number of books printed at 8x8 and this is frequently what I do for gifts. When I paper scrapped I made them 12x12. I had a coupon for a 12x12 bound book and I find it so much easier to read and enjoy because of vision issues. I will still probably print 8x8 for gift books but I've decided to go back to 12x12 for me.

I do make a few ongoing "theme" books 8x8. We have a NFL football book that came 8x8 and I add pages to it every year. And our family enjoys mini golf, which we also play when we travel. I'm making a mini golf book to capture our different trips throughout the years. That one I'm also making 8x8.

So this is pretty much a comment that is no help.

Lol! It actually is kind of helpful. Different theme books make 8x8, but family and kid albums probably make 12x12. My husband says 8x8 cause it's cheaper. .. but every time I think I've made up my mind to be an 8x8, I scream at myself internally... "Noooooooooooooooooooo! " so.... still indecisive. Lol

Any loose pages I do are 8x8, my books are 8.5x8.5 which I love! I love done 12x12 books and loose pages and they're just too big for me.

I decided by choosing 2 pages (one with lots of photos and text, and the other with just 1 photo) and printing them at both sizes. The single photo page looked good at both 8x8 and 12x12, but the page with more on it was much better at 12x12. So that's what I stuck with for the same reason as Brook. I also print some vacation photobooks, and those I do at whatever size I have a coupon for. When I know I'll be printing at 8x8, I just make sure to keep my photos and journaling larger on the page than I would to print at 12x12.

Have you considered 10x10? When I create all my scrap pages, they are 12x12, but when printing they can easily be resized for 10x10 or 8x8. I really like the 10x10 books. 12x12s seem so huge and take up a lot of space. I had trouble finding a good shelf for them to fit on as well. The 8x8 was super handy and portable, fit great on book shelves, but I definitely lost out on some of the size. I printed my last book as a 10x10 and I LOVED it. It was the perfect compromise!

10x10 is a great size for photobooks, but you didn't mention if you wanted to do books or loose pages in an album. Unfortunately, there aren't any 10x10 albums available. If there were, I'd probably switch from 12x12 to 10x10.

I do a mix of both sizes here. My PL loose pages are all 12x12 as are pretty much all the ones I make for my two kids' albums. The ones for my albums I print in either size, usually depending on how much I love the layout. My heritage pages are generally always 12x12.

I love the idea of choosing pages to see for myself.

Are you planning on printing bound books or page by page? Either way you can wait for a sale to make the 12x12 much more affordable.

I don't scrap in order, and I think having pages out of order in an album would drive me crazy

It's a shame there aren't more 10x10 D ring binder options for those of us who don't scrap chronologically and want to insert pages as we go. (Are you listening American Crafts?!) I print 8x8 because the grandkids like to look at their books and that size is easier for them to hold. Other than making sure journaling is readable I've never felt too many elements or photos were too much on that size.

I print 100 12x12 layouts and have them all hardback bound through Winkflash.

How do you like the books by Winkflash? I used to get my prints from them when I paper scrapped (which seems like a lifetime ago ). I did think my prints were a little dark but the price was unbelievable so I lived with it. Again, this might have been 10 years ago now and I think Winkflash also has new ownership.
