Default Summer Bucket List

What's on your summer bucket list? Mine feels pretty small, was looking to add a couple things. I will include ours, but there are some regional specific things.

Drive remote control car
Go to DL (biggest lake in the area)
Play with glow sticks
Camp
Host a BBQ
Picnic at Park
Redhawks Game (minor league baseball)
Vist Maplewood State Park
Zoo Trip
Thunder Road (go carts, mini golf, batting cages)
Fly a kite
Movie in the Park

Lots of great ideas on pinterest - some with free printables already. We're in winter now, so my bucket list only has one thing on it: Stay Warm! Haha!

To keep my sanity amidst lots of overtime at work and summer basketball season

In all seriousness though, we already scratched off one thing the first weekend school got out - Cheyanne had never been to the pier at Old Orchard Beach here in our state so we did that for a day.

Now that she's older we don't really have summer bucket lists. She's busy, I'm busy and the one day we have off together (Sunday) we try to go somewhere on a day trip if the weather cooperates.

This weekend we hope to got to a place called Asticou Gardens down on Mt. Desert Island (Bar Harbor/Northeast Harbor).

We also hope to get to a couple other beaches and then we have a week's vacation at the lake the 2nd week of August, once basketball is done.

This is the first year that the kids and I made one. We all like lazy weekends at home, so we get into a rut of staying home or just doing the same summer activities all the time (pool, hiking at a nearby park, etc). I'm determined to change that this summer, so twice a month we'll do a "big" activity when DH is home with us on the weekend. Our bucket list includes:

Pick your own produce
Zoo
Aquarium (did it last weekend)
Science museum
A few of the Smithsonian museums in DC
Day trip to see Civil War battlefields
Water park
Day trip to Annapolis, MD
County fair (done)
Baseball-major league game (tickets purchased)
Baseball-minor league game
Weekend trip to the beach (probably not going to happen this summer)
Try a few new restaurants

We'll also be on vacation for a week with family in the mountains. We go to the same place every year, so we want to repeat a few favorite activities (swimming in the lake, blueberry picking, the train museum, going for ice cream, and the county fair) and try a few new things (still need to research what).

Oh good. I love to see other ideas.

We are doing the Summer Bucket List of Fun again for grandma. She is 91 this year. We are so blessed.

I made pink polka dot flip flop address labels over on the Avery website for grandma to use on her correspondence this summer.

Watch National Lampoon's Vacation.

The local tv station usually plays a fireworks show so that will be her "watch fireworks".

She isn't able to garden with us so I usually write it as "eat something fresh from our garden" and I will at least make fridge pickles from our little cucumbers so that will be "eat homemade pickles from the garden".

We may try to take her on a road trip to her childhood home about 3 hours away if she feels up to it. That will be our MAJOR event for the summer if it happens.

Eat a chocolate chip cookie every day (this was the one thing she asked to do last year. I found a bucket of tiny chocolate chip cookies at Trader Joe's so this year she gets to eat a chocolate chip cookie every day).

Other ideas:
make homemade ice cream
interview and scrapbook a summer story grandma remembers from when she was a child -- maybe as a list of questions

I'd be happy to just make it through with my sanity in tact....
I prefer to do the more simple thing rather than big trips in the summer....
-more geocaching
-2 lighthouses left to finish seeing the ones in this region then I can move on to the next
-as many lake trips as possible
- go to a beach or 2
- amusement park
-camping for a week
- do more trick photography

Everything is pending getting a vehicle on the road....

We have one, but I like Kristin's better.

On ours - visit family in PA (done) - see Liberty Bell (done) - make homemade ice cream (done) - ice cream for dinner (done) - water balloon fight (done today!) - Route 66 Drive In - Fishing - Amusement Park - Concert (done) - paint our bedroom - refinish or paint our kitchen table

We will probably add some to it as we think of things but that is what we started with.
