Default hey moms..would you be interested?

So earlier this evening, Natalie (my 7yo) and I were reading an article in Family Fun about kids creating ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). She really wants to start making some, and I am going to cut the paper to get her started tomorrow.

The thing is, I would love for her to have some kids to trade them with. I think that part of the fun of ATCs is trading them with other artists and expanding your collection. I would love for Natalie to be able to trade with other kids around the world, not just friends that she convinces to do it. So my question is this: would any of you be interested in embarking on this project with us? If enough people are interested, I will put together the trading group and take care of all of the organization of it. All you would be responsible for is having your child create the cards, and then sending them in the mail to trade.

If you are interested in doing this with us, let me know here!

Thanks!

I have to say Jenni, I saw your name as the last post, and I thought..."man, isn't Zach a LITTLE young for this??" LOL...

Sara, I have to say, when I was thinking about it, Abby and Emma were the first two I thought of. I would love if we could get a whole little group going!

I just got my issue yesterday. It's the copy with the pom pom apple trees on the cover. I tried to find it online, but I can't seem to find it yet. The reqs I read in the article were:
  1. Card size was 2.5 x 3.5. I am just going to cut mine from regular white cardstock.
  2. On the back of each card, you needed to put your name, age, and give the card a title.
  3. You have to do your best work, and try to fill up the whole card.

I'll look again for the article, it had a lot of neat examples.

I'm excited to have so many friends willing to do it! I'll get started with the logistics!

If Troy was a bit more creative I would be all over this but right now he would just draw straight lines all over the cards & call them works of art. lol. Not sure how exciting of a card that would be for the older kids.

The August issue is the only one available online right now so that's probably why I can't find it. We haven't gotten our Sept one yet.

Can't wait to get the kiddo started on this.

My 1st grader is TOTALLY in (she is crafty like her mama), but I know my son (4YO) will want to do it, also. Aaron - if it's not too much trouble, could we possible see if there's enough interest to do a "big kid" and a "little kid" version? that way they can send straight lines to each other, LOL.

I would think school aged and above could be one group, not yet in school would be another group. If there's no interest, I totally understand!

oh, and btw - i LOVE this, so thanks for offering to set this up!

Do you think my 4 year old boy could as well? He draws nicely when he puts his mind to it? If not I'll have him draw his and just pretend to mail them.

I found the online magazine here but you have to be a subscriber to view it online (or buy the issue for 99cents)

Ok, I'll run a kids trade, and possibly even do a little kids one...but I draw the line at having to organize one for us too...someone else will have to do that...lol

If you do a little kid one... Jake would be in... age 4. His work is more abstract with lots of letters...

What a cool idea - my 8 year old is VERY artistic, loves to draw more than anything else tho . . my 3 year old loves collage and scrapbooking.

Love it, Ive been wanting to get overseas penpals for my daughter for ages (I loved mine when I was a kid, still in contact with one!) but she's not really good at writing letters, so this is just perfect

If any of you have a Michael's nearby, tomorrow (8/21/11) they have a free make-it-and-take-it...and they are doing ATCs. I'd definitely call my local store to make sure they were participating before heading over, but if they are, what great timing!

Will there be an age limit? My daughter is really interested but she's 11. My son is 5 and he's super excited about it, as well.
