Default Need Input from Dog People

My DH called and asked if we could, possibly, get a new dog. One of his co-workers "rescued" it from a breeder who had too many puppies and needed to get rid of them. He's a Hairless Chinese Crested. Does anybody know much about this breed? Do they get along well with children? I read about them on the AKC website, but I'd like to have some real opinions. Any stories? Experiences? Thanks so much!

My neighbor had one of these dogs. They are *unique*. Ummm not what I would call a beautiful dog but his dog was very very sweet and loving. So eager to please and got along well with all three of my kids and my cats. That is the only experience I have ever had with this breed but aside from the way the dog looked he was a great pet.

My experience is the same as Jessica's. My friend had one and she was the sweetest little thing. Not so pretty on the eyes, but she was so sweet and didn't ever bark when we came over (or anyone else).

It will really depend on the dog and it's personality. See if you can bring him home for a few days to see how the pup interacts with you and the kids and such.

This is what we're planning on doing. I just want to have a general idea of what to expect. If they were known to be aggressive, I might be less inclined to let DH bring him home in the first place.

Well, they are no breeds known to be aggressive. Especially when raised right. It's all in how you raise them
