Gallery/Shoppe question - layouts
Okay so Im looking at a kit (in this particular case, it's Libby's kit called Loser) ... and I don't mean just this specific kit... but this is just my example so I can explain my problem, LOL!
Anywayyys, so I'm looking at the shoppe, at Loser... and I see one of the sample layouts and I love something specific about it (again, in this specific case for example, it's the font) and so I want to pull up the actual gallery layout of it to see if she (whoever 'she' is) put down the credits for that font that I like on her layout. However, I can't find that layout in the gallery because uhh.. well... 1. I have no clue WHO 'she' is since the layout in the shoppe is not marked with a username and 2. Uh, Im not sure, I just can't..... I have searched for keywords, the kit name, etc.... Ok, so my question is (and not for this kit only... but for all kits) how do I find the sample layout in the gallery? Is there an easy way to know WHO designed that specific layout so I can search 'her' gallery for it? I have this problem a lot, lol, but figured I best just ask about it so I can stop wasting time searching and spend more time spending :-)

I don't think there is a way to know without designers taking the time to label each of the layouts.

If you hover over the image, sometimes there will be a name that pops up.

I looked in Libby's designer gallery and I don't see it... I see all the others for that kit but not the specific one Im looking at. Drats.

Drats! I run into this all the time. But I know it would be a ton of work for all you designers to have to label each layout. My checking account probably appreciates that you don't, LOL!

Maybe you could ask the designer who created it and how you could contact her?

Hi Heather, yes I could do that and Im sure Libby would be nice enough to tell me.. but this would be a LOT of emails from me to all of the designers every week, lol :-) I literally come across this issue a few times a week as I go through the shop. I was hoping there was a trick to see the name of the person, like a command or something that makes it visible or something... no such luck though Im thinking.

I've run into this problem too. I'll look for a sample layout and won't be able to find it at all in the gallery. I often wish that those samples would be linked to the image in the gallery so you could see the specifics.

Thanks Heather... for this one it's the first layout in the lineup... it's title on the layout is "why is this so hard". So if you know the person or the font, I'd love to know! Thnx!

Ahh Corey, thank you, you put it so much smarter and shorter than all my babbling! Yes, I would LOVE if they were linked to the gallery with all the specs on them!

Also, with it being a new release, sometimes it takes a day or two for people to get their layouts in the gallery. Check back in a day or two and it might be up, especially for those who were out of town.

It's by Carriesmom and it may be that she just hasn't loaded it into the galleries, yet, though she gave Libby the layout for previews.
BTW..the font is Elliephont It's in the Best of the Best 4 pack or available alone. Last edited by Darcy Baldwin; 11-23-2012 at 11:01 PM. |

Ohhhhh okay, I didn't realize they do that separately from the shop. I just assumed that they upload it to the designer/shop and at the same time it goes into the gallery! Thanks for that info, I will check back for it!

Nope. Most of us upload our layouts to offsite places like photobucket or flickr to share with our designers, and then wait until peeks or items are released to put in the gallery. The designers pick what layouts they want to add to the gallery from their CT and the Sugarbabes.

So glad the girls were able to help you out! Yes, that was Carriesmom (Liz), and she just emailed me the layout. So, it's possible that she didn't have it in the gallery yet.
You bring up an interesting point though. I've thought in the past that I should have my team label their pages with their screen name so that I can credit them when I post them in the shoppe or on facebook. As it is now, I usually don't have a clue who did it by the time I post it. Thanks for reminding me to look into doing it that way! |

I have noticed that on Cindy's LO.. they're usually labeled with Ct's names. I love it!

I wish layouts were linked, too. Sometimes I want to add them to my faves or see if they used a template, but I'm sure that would be a ton of trouble.

I used to have a hard time finding the page I was trying to track down... especially on older kits in the shoppe. It's funny because now I can recognize most of the regular girls who scrap here by the people in their photos. I've also started to check the sneak peek thread to try to track down ones I can't find. Sometimes they're there. You know what might help... some sort of list with the designer's CT's and links to their main gallery? That way you could just go down the list...

I know in other galleries you can enter a SKU of a layout when you're uploading it, and there is a button on the product page that says like "See Layouts using this kit" or something? I, obviously, have NO clue what kind of work it would entail to have a system like that but it's pretty slick when used properly. (ie - I remember to enter the SKU)

I have also had issues with this in the past, but 90% of the time, I just check the designer's personal gallery and the sugarbabe gallery, and within a day or 2 I normally find it. I really stalk the sneak thread like obsessively LOL, so a lot of the time I've seen the layout there and have already seen it in the gallery since sometimes they post them early, and even if they haven't posted to the gallery, that way I know who made the page. It would be cool though if they had a label with the artist's name on them in the store previews

The problem with using the sneak thread to track down a layout is that it might be a kit that I came across in the shop, and it's older, so then I'd have to search for the sneak thread in forums. I don't mean to sound rude, really I dont, but Im not really wanting to spend a couple hours (although I have! lol) to locate a layout to figure out which font, template, etc he/she might have used. Sometimes I'll go through the trouble, but often times after a couple minutes of checking if I don't find it, then I just move on (sadly! lol).
If the layouts were linked or somehow identifiable easier for us, then I'd think that would help in sales as well. So it would be a win-win situation :-) Yes, Im trying to convince the higher powers, LOL!!!

I totally get what you are saying - if it is an older product, that could get very time-consuming and difficult!
