Default So what did YOU look like at 13?

After seeing the staff's teenage photos, I thought it'd be fun for all of us to share the teen years.
I'm not sure what year this was, exactly, but I think it should encourage any young teenager that life does get better. Also, wallpaper dresses were cool, I swear. ; )

I was a teen in the 80's so basically every photo I have during that time features really big hair and some interesting outfits! I won't post here though as I don't want to give away anything in the staff photos. lol

Kellie, you were the epitome of gorgeousness for that time! Rad perm, gorgeous floral party dress! And I'm guessing the shoes are Sam & Libby's?

Such a fun thread! I love to look at old photos. Except all of mine are at my parents' house in France and I'm in the US but I'll ask if they can find something.

Aw you were/are so pretty, Kellie!! Heck, I'll play! I love old photos. I have a ton of baby/little kid pics and then a ton of senior pics, but hardly any in between. I do have a few. This is me trying on my jazz costume. I know I look like a baby, but I was 14 here.

Found it, I have no idea of my age but I know the school I was at had that uniform when I was 12-14 so I was around 13 lol. I wish I had more photos of myself but I don't!

I think I was 14 here, but maybe 13... I wore that flannel almost every day for like a whole year. Grunge was king.

ETA: My mother didn't let me pluck the unibrow until I was 16 .

When my son went to France on an exchange with the same family I went on a summer exchange with whenI was in high school they gave him his photo. I was 17, I think. That awkward stage lasted a long time for me!

Kellie I remember when those dresses were "in"!
Kelley you do look young there!
Gemma you were very pretty!'
Too funny about the eyebrows Karli, and wearing the same shirt all the time. We all went through stages like that!

Here's me at 14 for a dance recital in all of my stage make up glory.
(13 years I was posing with friends and doubt they'd give me permission to post that pic lol!)
I was such a shutterbug so I have tons of pics of friends but not many of myself.

Those 'suntan' shiny tights! Oh the memories!
It must have been a requirement of jazz costuming. Wish I could dig up more dance pics because I have very similar suntan-y shiny legs in my jazz costumes too!

You guys are nice, but I assure you, I was NOT beautiful! I was super awkward and insecure and still waiting for that perm to grow out (spoiler alert: it never did!)

omgosh, ELLA! YOU WIN! I have always dreamed of having hair like that!

And Karli-Marie, I had a unibrow, too, but my mom, who has like zero facial hair, was horrified by it and started me on electrolysis in middle school, lol. She didn't care that my legs were hairier than most of the boys' in my class because that could be hidden more easily, but she recognized the need for that one brow to go.

Oh man, I wish! My mother was like... embrace your natural beauty! And was like... um, not when there's a caterpillar on my face!

My best friend plucked it for me the summer before my junior year of high school and I lost a few pounds and people literally didn't recognize me on the first day of school It was kind of like in the movies, when the girl takes off her glasses and suddenly she's beautiful!

I love that you used this gif!! LOL!
My daughter had more hair than either of my boys. I took her to have her eyebrows waxed when she was in middle school, but wasn't okay with her shaving her legs (why??!...I have no clue!) until a friend of mine told me how bad she felt when she was that age because her legs were super hairy and her mom wouldn't let her shave them. I went out and bought Kayla an electric razor that night.

Not really I too was that awkward girl that never fit in while my sister was homecoming queen. I’ve alwats preferred to be invisible when in a crowd.

You are a beautiful woman, Ella!
My sister has always been prettier than me, and is more of a people-person than I am. I guess it's one of those facts of life that we have to move past!

It wasn’t so much about beauty we were two different types, she was just very outgoing and I was shy. I’d take me over her in a heartbeat she’s very judgmental and has hurt a lot of people in her climb to be noticed. I’d rather be invisible then fake to be seen.

Beauty without inner beauty is not really beauty at all.

Exactly, she hurt my other siblings so much during my moms passing. She refused to even hug most of them, there is nothing beautiful about lack of empathy because you think you are bettter then someone else.

I think I had that same dress, or one very similar!!

I love this trip down memory lane and seeing how you have all changed throughout the years! I think we only get better with age! (That and half the time I don't think I'm aging, but everyone else around me!) I'll have to look through my album from growing up to see if I can find a photo! These are great! Thank you all for sharing!
