Default So Stinkin' Excited!!!

So... as some of you may know... I've been miserable exiled up here in Northern California, so far away from my family and friends in Southern California. It's been this way a whole year now.

I finally found something up here that I've been dying to see for years, that I wouldn't have gotten to if we hadn't moved here.

On Feb 7th... we're taking the kids to San Francisco's Chinatown New Year's Celebration!!! They have the big parade and street festival!!!

I am SO excited!!! Any Bay Area natives with tips on parking, etc??

**bounce bounce bounce**

I have no advice. Just wanted to say that it's very cool you're so excited about the celebration! I'm far away from my family too and know it can be really hard- have a great time!!

I will check with some of my friends that go every year. My first thought is take BART if you are close to a station. When I lived in Los Gatos, we used to drive to the Fremont station if we needed to go into the City for a big event. I check around and get back to this thread.

Wow, how fun! I would definitely take some kind of public transportation. I can't imagine trying to park there with all that going on. Even if you don't live close to a station, you can always find one that has parking and then take the train from there. We used to do that from the Emeryville station to the SF Giants games when we lived in Davis.

Here's the website for the parade FAQ, if you scroll down there's some info about public transportation options: http://www.chineseparade.com/faqs.asp.

yes yes public transportation is wonderful---especially the BART like everyone has recommended we used to take it downtown for events when we used to be stationed at Travis AFB.

I've never taken the BART, but DH has... how is it with strollers? I'll be bringing my 2 year old and my 7-month old with us. We usually bring the car to stuff like this because if I can't find anywhere to change their diapers... the car is usually the first place I head to.
