Default What creeps you out??

Ok, I thought this would be a fun question.

First, name one or more things that TOTALLY give you the creeps... like something that maybe spooks you, gives you goosebumps up the spine, or just grosses you out. Then tell us about something that strangely doesn't bother you at all.

For me... spiders. If I see a spider I scream without even thinking about it. I just freak. I'm soooo scared of spiders. I know it's kind of unreasonable since most of the spiders I see aren't poisonous and aren't going to attack me or something. LOL! But, yeah, I'm even getting tense thinking about the one I saw in our bathroom months ago. A few more things... swimming in murky water, wiping other people's kids butts, and watching people do stunts like tightrope.

Something that doesn't creep me out... birds. I love birds. (((LAURA))) I don't mind dolls with eyes that stare. I also don't mind blood & gross stuff in a surgical/medical way (but zombies eating people do gross me out). Strangely, DH is the opposite... gory blood doesn't bother him, but an operation on Grey's does. I also like snakes.

LOL i love that you called me out
well, birds (obviously). i hate their beady little eyes. BLERGH
i hate feet. like, to the point that they make me gag. my husband thinks it's hilarious to grab stuff with his toes and try to hand it to me. *shudder*
and the last weird one...
styrofoam rubbing together is my nails on a chalkboard. HATE IT.

Centipedes - totally give me the creeps! Spiders too for the most part, but I can handle daddy long legs. Snot. I totally gag if one of my kids has snot dripping down their face - I seriously couldn't even wipe my kids' noses when I was pregnant because I would puke LOL. Now I can do it, but it is just the nastiest thing!

I can handle blood - as in a medical show or dripping off my kids' lips without a problem. I can't stand bloody gory movies though - those give me nightmares.

Grosses/creeps me out...
Vomit, little boy's bathrooms, the inside of the garbage disposal, using a big paper cutter (had an elementary school friend chop her fingertip off in front of me and now just the sound of it freaks me out), other kids snotty noses

Doesn't gross me out...
Fish cleaning, deer gutting, blood and injuries, spiders, snakes, etc. Most normal things that gross everyone else out don't bother me at all. I'm weird like that.

Something random that creeps me out is human beatboxing. I don't know why, some of the noises they make just seem unnatural and creepy! Otherwise, earwigs are a big one. Oh man they are gross.

Things that don't bother me - needles/blood...not bothered in the slightest by any of that. Unless it's like a REALLY unusual thing (like I watched a show once where a guy had a large board impaled in his head....UCK!! that was nasty!!)

Creepy/Gross Out:
Moths, Grasshoppers, Crickets, metal/wood scrapping on teeth

Doesn't Bother Me:
blood, watching surgery, gory movies, violent movies, fingernails on chalkboards

I'm sure there is more, but those were first thoughts.

The thoughts of getting my fingers cut off or cut in general. I can't stick my hands into places I can't see. Like garbage disposals or crevices in the couch. I can't clean the air vents with a cloth in fear of getting cut on the edge of the vent.

I also hate the sound of metal on metal. Gives me the chills.

I don't know what doesn't gross me out that should. I have a really weak stomach after throwing up so much during my pregnancies and since having gall stones.

only thing that completely freaks me out...spiders & snakes. OK and maybe rats. Anything else I can deal with. I go swimming in the lakes and rivers and have my whole life even though my friends freak about ameobas and alligators. Walk past gators at the wildlife preserve near our house literally 2 feet away and it does not scare me. Fish dont bother me. Baiting a hook I am ok with. Ill admit I probably could not shoot something living but Im ok if I dont have to see it whole. Like a deer for instance. Something I tried once most people would probably find gross...rattlesnake. No it was not good. At all. Not even our cats would eat it it was so bad tasting. But hey I can say I tried it once LOL

Pretty much every insect except possibly ladybugs.

A fork scraping across a plate or bowl.

Feet are nasty and should always be covered in socks and/or shoes.

Cranes! Not the birds but the equipment. I just know one is going to topple over and smush me as I drive past it.

Ever seen a swarm of ladybugs...like thousands? We had a lot of woods around our house and one of the plants attracted them for some reason. I heard a noise in the bedroom and came in here and our windows were covered with ladybugs. Yes there were so many I could hear them hitting the window and a kinda buzzing sound. With no kids in the house and the tvs all off the house was silent exept for that sound. That kinda freaked me out. But in general a single or even a couple ladybugs do not bother me in the least.

Creepy - Scorpions (boys just killed one this weekend in the backyard), spiders, roaches, and snakes.

One horror story - years and years ago when the boys were young, I had my oldest outside with me and we were spraying down the patio and so the grass was getting soaked. All of a sudden hundreds of roaches started coming out of the grass! They started covering the patio and door and we couldn't get back in - had to run around to the front of the house. AAAAAACK!! I've blocked out of my mind what happened after that. Now we have more scorpions around us than anything else...probably because scorpions EAT other bugs, including roaches.

Other reptiles don't bother me at all, like any kind of lizards or turtles/tortoises. Blood doesn't freak me out, but I don't really like to watch violent or horror movies.

I don't like spiders or snakes but I can deal with them. Or rats and mice. What I can't deal with are cave crickets. I don't like their long legs, humped back or the fact that they can jump high! Let one come into my house and I freak out!

I don't mind needles as long as I don't see them stick me with one. I usually close my eyes or look the other way.

I like birds especially eagles and doves. I also like ladybugs.

What creeps me out...

Dolls, esp larger ones.
Mirrors in a dark room (bathroom, frex)
Maggots. They're disgusting.
Gypsy Moth caterpillars-- why? Back when I was a kid in Massachusetts in the 70s, we had the first huge infestation of GMC's. We had a large, beautiful tree that overhung our driveway. As the GMC's ate the leaves on the tree (you could HEAR THEM EATING) the driveway became covered in their slippery green waste. I slipped on their caterpillar crap several times when I thought I could manage crossing out of our garage to the sidewalk with my bike. Gross, gross, gross.
Roaches, yech. Not sure if they creep me out, but I sure don't like 'em.
Horror & Suspense Movies-- I can *read* the stories, but watching them? Supernatural is about as far I can go.

This, and roaches, creep me out!

I used to spend time at my aunt and uncles house when I was a little. My mom came once and decided that she, my mom, and I had to clean it out because it was so gross. There were old spice containers in there just full of maggots! uke: I was only like 6 or 7 at the time but I've never, ever forgotten it and maggots still creep me out 40 years later.

I can handle, spiders and I love snakes, rats and mice.... I do hate mosquitos, but just because I am allergic, they don't creep me out though.

Blood and gore don't bother me int he slightest unless it belongs to one of my kids or critters and then I'very anxious and worried. Not creeped out, just worried

Any insect that comes with a looot of friends, lol. I can handle 1 maggot, but 100 of them creep me out!
Mice and rats. I have a phobie. There are a lot of fields around here so we do have mice in the garden and even once had one in the house. They give me panic attacks!! They make me scream and climb on top of the furniture

I'm not afraid of spiders.

A small part of me wants to Google Gypsy Moth Caterpillars but I know I'll regret it so I'm holding myself back. LOL!

Add me to the feet hating list. My hubby and friends think it's funny when they try to touch mine. Bleh!

I pretty much hate all insects.

My friends dad creeps me out. He's probably harmless but he gives off the "Creepy McCreepster" vibes so I tend to watch him when he's around our children.

one more for me. I do not want to see the insides of a person...as in surgery. The surgeon did my husbands gall bladder surgery gave me photos and I was like ewww I dont want to even look. My husband however watched my c-section and his response when I asked what does it look like: "Like gutting a deer" Thanks honey that is exactly how I feel right now LOL.

I never could understand the fear of birds...though I know it's very real for some people (Val).

Scraping metal on teeth...ggaaahh! sends me to the ceiling every time!
Roaches...if I EVER find even one in my house, I'm calling the exterminator.
Pulling hair out of the drain.
Scary, creepy bad guys with nasty teeth...like The Prince of Darkness from Criminal Minds...

I can't stick my hand in the garbage disposal either.

a couple things that creep me out:

mice. Shudder. We had a mouse get into our house this year and I seriously could not be home until he was caught about 2 days later. I was completely flipped out over it.

dead fish in a fish tank. I know it's a part of having a large nice fish tank, but I get flipped out over seeing it. To the point that if anyone sees one in my husband's tank they turn off of the tank's light and I know to not look inside.

Things that don't creep me out:
talking medical stuff like in-depth surgery stuff or nasty signs and symptoms. I've worked in the medical field for years and that stuff just interests me. I love talking shop to docs and surgeons.

another thing that bugs me but doesnt really creep me out just is really grating is the beeping sound in a busy store from stuff being rung up. Most people dont even notice it but I do. I once asked a cashier does that sound not get to you after awhile? She asked "what sound?" I said that beeping sound several times a second. She told me she did not even notice it anymore. Also I cannot be in a busy restaurant with a lot of people all talking at the same time. To me it is like a dull roar and I will inevitably leave with a headache so if it is particularly busy we usually eat quickly or order food to go. And finally at night I have to sleep with earplugs because even my husbands breathing or the creaks your house make at night are enough to wake me up and enough to bug me. I know it makes me sound miserable. I dont say anything about it like complaining about it if you know what I mean. I just work around it and try to avoid situations I know are going to cause those issues.

Creep me out- maggots, dentists(really who enjoys sticking their hands in other people's mouth for a living), cows(huge bead-y eyed, stinky, nasty ....), can't think of much else.

Things that don't creep me out- bugs, snakes, spiders, mice, surgery, blood, gory things, feet, vomit, scorpions, heights, roller coasters, noises, I think that's all were said so far and that I could think of.

birds kinda creep me out, but I totally gross out at the food I find in the carseat! I mean it gags me! This boy hides stuff! I clean it out every weekend, due to the ugh it causes me!

but then vomit, boogers and other bodily functions just are no problem to me!

I'm a sympathetic ralpher. One time when DH was working nights, my stepson threw up in the bathroom. Just getting close enough to throw a towel over the mess almost made me hurl. There was no way I could clean it up! Luckily, Monkey has only thrown up once (maybe twice) in the last 3 years (and I never throw up), so it's not something I have to deal with regularly.

I also despise rodents.

Otherwise, ain't no thang: bugs, reptiles, spiders, blood, gore, snot, diapers, etc. I watched my ex's vasectomy reversal; that was fascinating.

I don't watch scary movies, but it's not because they actually scare me. I know that what I see will get tangled up in my dreams that night and I'll end up dreaming a nightmare personalized to my life and fears. No thanks.

Nails on the chalk board.
The slimy seeds inside a melon (cantaloupe or honeydew -ewwww).
The bottom of a lake that I cannot see.

Frogs don't creep me out and I can bait my own hook.

People that scrape their teeth on forks when they eat.
That "falling feeling", like when you slip on ice and barely catch yourself. I scream every time.

SLUGS! Not much bothers me but slugs make me crazy. I don't even like them in cartoon version! My kids think it is hilarious.

I have crazy dreams about strange fish. We have an aquarium but I won't let DH get any 'cool' fish because creepy fish give me bad dreams. They don't scare me to look at them but I dream about them later. I read a story as a kid that stuck with me.

Not too much grosses me out or scares me.

Oh that is a huge one for me! I can't do worms, they are slimy, wriggly, creepy, icky lil things that make me shiver, shake and squeal like a little girl. I can fish with fake lures or if someone else is nice enough to bate me.

I have to be very careful eating a popsicle, that wood needs to be nibbled around, not stuck into the mouth and you gotta be very careful when you think you are getting close to it. Ugh, I'm all creeped out now thinking of it.

Dh will almost cry if he has to touch like a cotton ball! Lol! He can't stand it. If there is cotton in a medicine bottle, i have to take it out for him.

I'm not so grossed out by bugs or frogs or snakes, or anything like that... (unless they surprise-touch me! lol)

But I HATE the sound/feel of rubbing tissue or napkins or dry paper between my thumb and a finger. lol. I hope that made sense. Like, you can feel the awfulness and hear it go up your arm into your ears Yuck!

OMG, me too! Just like my paper thing I just mentioned! lol

OMG Megan, thanks for that picture! lol... In the apartment we had before we bought our house we found a couple of them. Once I was going to get a bottle of mouthwash off the shelves near our sink, brought it close to me to open it, and realized one of those F'ing things had crawled onto my finger from the shelf!! Ick!!! It was like 3 inches long!!!! It scared the crap out of me. I don't mind bugs so much, but to have one of those huge nasty things on my finger! It felt fuzzy too, because of all its legs! Ewww, it was so big I could have sworn I heard it as it ran away across the floor. It was so stinking fast I couldn't catch it either!

Sorry Rachael! Yeah, one ran across my foot once! I can't look at it without getting the shivers! The ONLY good thing about the house centipedes is that they eat spiders! lol
