Default Favorite Glass

I am in the market of buying some new glass for my camera. What is your fave that you can't live without? I have a Nikon D90.

Right now I have the 18-105 kit lens and a 50mm on the way.

I just sold my 55-200mm with my D40x and 18-55...neither of which were good lenses so it's no big loss and am going to use the at money to put towards a new lens (or two depending on the price)

I REALLY want the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 but that isn't going to happpen in 2009 (or 2008 for that matter). I was thinking about picking up a cheap zoom lens just so I have it for trips to the park and zoo...70-300mm...but still haven't decided yet.

So tell me...what is your favorite lens?

I have the D40 so if I want autofocus I have to get the AF-S lenses (or maybe AF-I would work too?), the ones with the motor actually in the lens. I am slobbering over this one and hopefully will get it for Valentine's Day.

My fav is the 200mm with vibration reduction. I use that one all the time. I hate the 18-55 kit lens

You have my favorite on the way-- my 50mm. I need to get a new one, I think-- it works sometimes and not others. I get a "FEE" message most of the time.

I just got the 50mm f1.8 a few months ago and I LOVE it. However, I find it a little frustrating that I need to get back far enough to get more of the person in my picture. I'm thinking of getting the 28mm f2.8. I'm going to talk to my friends at Ritz and see what they suggest for this frustration. I think part of it too is that mostly I shoot my daughter and she wants to be sitting next to me if I'm on the ground. So kind of hard to use the 50mm lens for that sort of situation.
