Default A Game of Thrones

anyone read/reading it? I watched the show and started reading the books. I'm through the first one and love it! The books are way better than the show in my opinion

I read all the books first and absolutely loved them! The show however, was too graphic for me and I couldn't watch it. Weird, because I really liked the books.

I've read all of them and I'll be reading the next one in October when it's released. ( can't wait! ) I love the series, I read them before the show started but I watch the show too. ( the books are better :P )

I'm glad the books are better than the show...we watched a few (3 or so episodes) and decided the sex scenes totally took away from any story they were trying to tell. So we stopped. I need some books to read over our summer vacation and so will give these a try.

Ive read the books 1 through 3 in Spanish that I borrowed from a friend and would have to buy myself the others if I wanna keep reading them in Spanish so decided to start reading them in English from #1 cause realized the English versions(paperback) are cheaper than the Spanish ones (hardcover) and those I can afford LOL. Have to agree with everybody else the books are way better than the tv show. Im glad I read the books prior to watching it on tv else I would have lost my time watching the whole series.

Yeah, the sex scenes in the first few seasons were really bad. it was like watching porn. They fizzled out a bit by season 4 thank goodness. I'll still watch the show as it comes out, but I love the books more!

I love the books more too but that's why I had to stop reading them til after the show! When I read the book after a season, I loved both the show and then the book which filled in a lot. BUT when I read the book first, I still loved the book but I didn't enjoy the show nearly as much because I knew what was going to happen and it wasn't as good as the book.

I'm reading book two now and there are enough differences that it's throwing me off having watched the show first, lol!

Yes, yes, yes, a huge yes! Love the books! Multi-layered quality prose, with a strong human message behind all the violence that I normally dislike... a must, if you love the show. And I find his other works equally appealing, both short stories collections and novels. Haven't been reading anything but GRRM since January 2013, and that never happened before with one author, not for such a long stretch of time!
