Default Help me pick out wall colors :D

Sooooo, I just bought a new-to-me home yesterday It was already empty so we can move in any time but I want to paint some rooms first.

Hit me with your favorite colors for a bedroom (mine, DD already has hers planned out of course) and for a living room. I am horrible at interior decorating and need help! TIA!

That's great news! Do you have a theme / mood that you want to achieve for your bedroom & the living room?

Yay!!! Congrats, Marie!!! We are going to close on a new house on June 9th, so I'm in the same exact place as you are... trying to think of paint colors.

I have gotten so many compliments on the paint color in my current house. It's gray, but the exact shade is nice and warm and compliments any colors you decide to accent the room with. These are the two grays I use:

benjamin moore edgecomb gray (this is in the living room)
This is what it looks like in my living room (my house is on the market so I have nice neat pics!)

benjamin moore silver fox (this is in the kitchen, hall)

That's not in my house, above. But I would choose silver fox for the bedroom because it is a nice cozy shade.

Congratulations!!!

I'm terrible at this kind of stuff. My walls have been the same color since we moved in in 2002. I want to change them so badly but don't want to have to paint myself. Painting vaulted walls sucks!

Not really - LOL. I don't want my room to be "girly" because I'm not a girly girl. My bedding set is fairly new (just got it this winter) and those colors are a dark brown with blue and a touch of gold. My living room curtains will be a dark forest type green since I have expensive lined ones that I will keep when we move.

My husband thinks all the walla in the house should be the same, so we have white. It's so boring. But I did the trim in black in our room so that helped lol.

I was going to suggest the same two colors that Brook did. I love grey as a neutral these days!

I think some of you might have a heart attack in my house! I have a DARK purple wall in the foyer, pale yellow in three rooms, light orange in the kitchen and dining room, green in my family room and darker green in the guest bath. My daughter's room is bright teal, son's is dark blue and gray and his bathroom is BRIGHT RED.

For me, paint is the cheapest form of DIY in the house. You can change the whole feel of a room with paint, throw pillows and some accent pieces.

So I say, paint with the colors you love! You can always go back and change them.

The Glidden "Soft Meadow" of the walls is pretty. Light and neutral. and the trim is "Swan" White" which is very pretty. It is on all the trim in my home.

More Greens but .... Cabinets - Glidden "Almost Aqua" and Walls "Pale Jade"

The Gray wall in this one is goregous - Glidden "Polished Pewter".

Grayish Purples is pretty here - Glidden "Amethyst Haze" .

LOL - DS had a BRIGHT YELLOW and black room right before he left home. It looked like a freaking bumble bees room!

DD is doing hers in a teal color but paler - her bedding is a bright teal. My kitchen is going to be either yellow or red - haven't decided yet. I like dark colors but since I already have dark colored curtains for the LR I'll go with a lighter color there. My room is open for just about anything that goes with brown and blue.

See, I love color... but I would rather not have to paint a room every time I want to add a different color to my decor. I hate painting! I'd rather do a neutral wall color and just switch out curtains, pillows, bed spreads, etc.

The new house we are buying has pale yellow walls in EVERY ROOM. Gah. So, even though it's nicely painted I will definitely be re-painting at least the master bedroom and living areas.

That's what I've always done since we were always in either base housing or rentals and couldn't paint walls. And yellow in any room except for a kitchen or bath would make me want to paint over it too!
