he is still going to be having to go 3 times a week to therapy and he cannot drive and I do not drive so Im not sure how we will manage that but we will figure it out somehow. I am just happy to have him coming home. I know he will be so much more comfortable at home and sleep so much better. He will be able to eat when he is hungry (instead of three scheduled meals a day) and have food he actually likes and will be able to be with me (and me with him) all the time. I hate having to leave him every night and having to ask permission to walk him out to the porch. I know why the nurses have to know where he is but sometimes a hospital feels more like a jail.

yay!! That is wonderful news! Be sure to tell the hospital that transportation will be an issue. They probably have suggestions and maybe therapists near your area that you could take a taxi to. Or maybe they can arrange in-home therapy depending on what he needs.
I'm so glad he will be home! |

well he is home. Had some bad news today...the place he is supposed to go to for therapy does not do alll the therapies he needs which sucks. I am not sure where he is going to have to go for that but he has an appt with his primary care dr on Friday so hopefully he will be able to get a referral from her to a place which can take care of all three therapies in one place. Then I got a call from his cousin to tell me my son is being bullied on the bus and he told me some kid punched him in the jaw today. That really worrise because he is really big and with all the stress from the accident and losing his brother if someone pushed him to far and he lost his temper it could be bad. So first thing tomorrow on top of every other phone call I have to make (health insurance, lawyer, car insurance etc) I have to call his school. There is supposed to be a zero tolerance policy so Im not gonna deal with that for very long. I plan on telling him to deal with it tomorrow or Ill just contact an attorney (it went on all last year too after they transferred him from the handicapped bus to the regular bus. He is a special ed. student). So while it is a nice day beause he is finally home it is pretty stressful too

Jessica, I'm so happy for you that your dh is back at home. What a blessing.
But wow, your poor son. First having to deal with the loss of his brother, and the near-death experience of his dad (not to mention your wacky unsupportive in-laws), and now to have to deal with bullies on top of it? Poor kid. He sounds like he needs a big hug and a strong advocate for him. Good for you for phoning the school straight away. Actually, I'm a little surprised the bus driver didn't handle it. Our kids have to sign a behaviour contract when riding the bus and it gives the bus driver significant lee-way in dealing with misbehaviour. No kid should have to deal with this under normal circumstances: the agony of deciding whether to tough it out or to tell an adult. But add to that all the stress he's been under, those other children should be ashamed of themselves. Big hugs to you too Jessica. And bless you for being a strong protector of your child. Calling in an attorney if nothing is done is a great idea - is there legal aide available, or perhaps a lawyer friend or church member, so that you can explore this without incurring any costs? |

Oh Jessica, I'm so glad your husband is finally home! Hopfully the therapy can be worked out so he only needs to go to one place.
Bullies really irritate me; they learn it from their parents! I feel so sad for your son that he has to deal with being picked on, especially since he just went through losing his brother. I know all too well how cruel kids can be because I was bullied all through school. Hopefully the school will put a stop to it. Good luck! Stay strong! |

I'm a couple days behind in reading ... but SO HAPPY FOR YOU that your husband is finally home!
I know you probably don't have a choice being you don't drive ... but I don't let my kids ride the bus ... there are too many things that go on on the school buses around here (including bullying) that I will not allow it. Too many times I have seen the buses turn around in the midst of delivering kids home and go right back to the school and call the police ... no way. ...and yours being a special needs (which one of mine is) ... I totally understand being worried about him being bullied!!! {{{hugs}}} Ok totally nosey question, have you not ever learned to drive or didn't want to? I don't know any women that don't drive around here, thus my curiosity ... maybe it's where we live that it's different. ... it would drive me nuts not to have the freedom to hop in the car and rush to the store if I'm out of something, or if someone got sick at school (or wheverever) to pick them up, or when my dh has his accident and I had to go pick him up. I remember when my oldest was a baby ... he had persistent ear infections for 2 years ... we were at the doctor 1-5 times a month! I guess I'm used to driving ... have been since I was 16 ... I can't imagine trying to arrange transportation all the time.

Well Sharon when my husband and I got married I was 15 and went to night school to get a GED. They have a law here if you drop out of school you have to wait until you are 18 to get your license. My husband always drove me everywhere or I took a bus or had a friend/family member who would drive me. Getting where I needed to go was not a problem. I did finally get my license but I am terrified of driving anywhere now. This is the fourth accident for my family in 8 years and while my husband or I can be really careful and follow all the laws of the road this area we live in is a really bad area for accidents.
