Default Damn security tags!

Aaack! So I went with hubby to the nearest town with decent shopping yesterday. This town is 2 hours away. So we do our shopping, have an awesome time together, and come home. Well as I was taking my stuff out, I found that one of those stupid security tags was left on one of my pairs of pants! Did I mention this store is 2 hours away? Hubby is in there trying to get it off without breaking the ink thing...

Oh, I hate when that happens! I had it happen with a pair of jeans once, but fortunately the mall is only about 15 mins. away. I hope your DH is successful...do you think a closer store would help you out if you came in with your item and it's receipt and just tell them you need help so you don't have to go all the way back there?

Oooh no... he is taking a hacksaw to it... I am fearing for the life of my pants...

I don't think any of the stores in my small town have security tags..

Yay! Success... he got it off with no ill effects to the pants!

Has anyone else had this problem? I was a bit worried but thankfully I have a very handy man!

lol...did you take pictures of that? How funny. Old Navy always puts those magnetic ones in the pant legs and I forget. They always set off the alarms at Target. Its so annoying.

For future reference, before going the hacksaw route (LOL!) you can wrap rubber bands around either side of the pin. SUPER SUPER tight. It'll pop the pin out.

We had a big theft problem at one of my retail stores ages ago, and that's how the theives were doing it. We'd find tons of broken rubber bands in the dressing rooms, lol.

One thing you can do is to stick the pants in the freezer so that the ink freezes, then you can remove the tag without fear of breaking the ink.

So glad your handy hubby got it off for you without any ill effects to your pants!

I've never heard the rubber band idea before...who knew?

I don't know if the rubber band would work with this one..both pieces are round (not the usual round on top, rectangle on bottom) It was magnetic with 3 tiny metal balls that held the pin in and would have needed a really strong round magnet to pull the 3 balls out at once and open it.

I didn't know ink freezes? I wouldn't even have thought of that. I'll have to keep all this in mind for the future! lol

I worked in retail and I had people come in and have me take the tags off paid items. I always tried to make sure I got them to prevent a problem. Ring, take tag off, ring, take tag off.
