Eliana Clare Has Arrived :)
Thanks for the nice thread, chicas.
 I was so happy that we made it through the weekend. We had visitation with SS and I still had a few loose ends to tie up, so I woke up feeling good Monday morning, say around 9, and ready to have this baby Tuesday morning at her scheduled induction... until, upon getting out of bed, my water broke. How considerate of her so that I didn't have to change sheets, right?! I freaked Jeff out with how cool and collected I was. *lol* He was like, 'WHAT just happened?!' (His son was a planned induction.) Ha. I made sure to eat breakfast, remind him to get some things together for himself, yadda yadda, and then we were on our way. We got to the hospital at 10, got checked into a room around 10:30, started me on Pitocin after that... no real contractions yet. Things are cool. Both the nurse I had throughout L&D as well as the nurse who had given us the maternity tour had made sure that since I wanted an epidural to get it when I wanted, don't be a hero, etc. I'm starting to hurt, so Ms. Anesthesiologist came in after lunchtime with her big table of pretty shiny things and big ol' smile on her face, gave me the Epidural 101 spiel, arch your back and lean over, yadda yadda. This is the part when I feel like I'm going to pass out because they have me leaning over the bed so far that I feel like I'm going to fall over but make sure you don't move, like, at all or you'll be a paraplegic but too much blood is rushing to my head and despite Other Nurse Covering Lunch Break of L&D Nurse confidently assuring me she'll make sure I don't fall she REALLY doesn't look like she can catch all 8 million pg pounds of me. Sigh. It all sucks, but of course, everyone knows the epidural fixes everything, so I grin and bear it. Except it doesn't work. It takes the edge off a few contractions, but then I'm right back to the pain. No numbness, either, except in my right foot. Um, help? Ms. Anesthesiologist is puzzled: adds more, waits around, thinks, leaves and comes back. I got nothin', lady. By this time, Jeff, MIL, and my mom are gathered 'round the fire and waitin' for some 'magic' to happen. Ms. Anesthesiologist decides she'll give it another try. Oh goody. At least this time, I'm able to lie on my side so I don't feel like I'm going to die, and I hee hee hee HOOOO my way through a couple contractions while she re-epiduralizes me. Too bad I'm not delivering this baby through my foot since it's STILL only my right leg that is numb. The meds do seem to take a little of the edge off so I'm only feeling the peaks of the contractions for 30-45 minutes, but then we're back to Square One... again. I. CAN. FEEL. IT. ALL. and I don't like it. This is the part where I decide I don't really want to have baby au naturel and I'll just cross my legs and hold my breath and then she'll just tuck back inside for another day. Ha ha ha ha ha. Yup, so it's just me & my millions of years of female ancestors as we 'race' towards the finish line (abt an hour of pushing and 7 total hours at the hospital all told) with DH holding the left leg, Mom holding the right leg, MIL the Retired OB Nurse counting and holding my hand, and I'm attempting gymnastics with the roll bar they've installed over my cash 'n' prizes and the sheet they've wrapped around said roll bar that I'm pullin' on for dear life. Oy. All's well that ends well, though, right? Or something like that. It took the doc 20 minutes to stitch me up (youch!), but I got to gaze at Eliana from the other side of the room as her new fan club oohed and ahhed and snapped pics. I still can't get over (a) how much hair she had, (b) that it's got a wee bit o' curl in it, and (c) how blonde it is. We've been hangin' out here at the hospital ever since. She's passed all her tests, made all the nurses oooh and ahhh, and picked up breastfeeding this morning after a couple of sleepy attempts last night. We spent most of last night with her curled up on my chest to sleep, so Mama is VERY tired, but otherwise, all are in good spirits and ready to go home tomorrow. She's adorable LeeAndra!!! Sorry the epidural didn't work!!! I had one with my first and the had to keep coming back and giving me more every hour.
I was in labor 31 hours and then ended up having an emergency C.
