Default Off Topic - 30 Day Shred

I totally just got my butt handed to me from a DVD. I knew it was going to be hard but I man I just finished and when it was over I just fell onto the floor and didn't want to move.

So I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for posting about the DVD and answering my questions the other day. I was able to talk DH into buying it and I am so glad I did. I def needed to do something and I now I know just how badly I need to lose this weight.

Way to go! It gets easier, and then you move up to a new level and get your butt kicked again, lol. But it is so, SO worth it, I promise.

the first time I did it, I really wasn't sure I'd be able to make it up the stairs that night!

Did your husband try it with you?

Omg. DH is NOT allowed to watch me workout OR comment. That to me is the same as having to run naked through a mall or something. Not a sight ANYONE wants to see, lol!

Yeah, DH isn't allowed to watch me either LOL.

After the first time, I couldn't walk up the stairs. It does get better though! I stopped doing it, because the jumping jacks kill my shins (I have shin splints). But I do the strength portion often, without the DVD.

Funny, I started Day 1 again yesterday! I had to take a Mortrin pill before bed! Soooo out of shape. I walk a lot, but definitely don't lunges or squats enough, apparently! That Jillian kicked my butt!

I have all the intentions of starting the 30 Day Shred just as soon as I get back from camping next week. Honest. I just know I'm gonna feel like dying soon as I start it.

This is my 4th or 5th time starting on the Shred again. And I've been running off and on since last March. I did level 2 on Tuesday (I don't bother with level 1 anymore, I start on 2 and do the harder moves), and I'm still sore today. I'm going to the gym to run tonight and I'm gonna have to do a longer warm up I think. My inner thighs and hammies are SO tight.

I'm very wimpy with the Shred. I skip the high impact stuff and have never made it to level 2.

btw, I saw it Costco for $7.99 if anyone doesn't have it yet.

Oh, great thread. I just odered it now. It looks great, especially as I often do those in the evening, when I'm not feeling like an hour long program. 20 minute steps sound perfect.

I needed something new anyway. I get bored when there isn't a new DVD from time to time.

I tried doing it when my little boy was 4 months old, but only did maybe 5 days and gave up. After reading this thread, I'm going to give it another try!

I so need to do this, but you all are scaring me! We have a 2-story house! LOL Maybe I'll see if Sam's Club has it. I need a short workout so I will do it.

Mary, I'm not gonna sugar coat it. If you're doing it the way it's meant to be done, you will have trouble going down stairs, and sitting down. LOL! But, it goes away after about 3 days.

It's not the kind of workout that you do half-assed. It's tough, but it has to be to get results in only 20 minutes a day.

OK. Well, I just bought it. I'm going to DIE!! I really don't like exercising. And I sit down all day for work - eek!! Maybe a big pillow??? (Hmmm...I think my son still has some Vicadin left from his wisdom teeth if I get desperate. ) The 20 minute thing is what is wooing me, so I have to give it a try. I just don't have much more time per day to spare.

I have very much been that person that complains about my body without doing anything about it (or without doing enough to change it). I needed someone to push me, so I'm hoping my words will help someone else who may be scared to start on the journey. Because we're worth it.

Mary, the good news is that once you're sitting down you're fine. It's just the action of lowering yourself to sit that gets you. Going up stairs is fine, but down is rough. At least for me. It's all the lunges and squatting that you do, lol. And like I said, after 3 days or so you're fine

Okay, I think you all have convinced me. I saw the DVD at Wal-Mart over the holidays and almost bought it then. I'm going to get it today. Here's to being sore together!

Bumping this post...

I've done 2 days of the shred and let's just say that the warm up alone killed my arms. I'm in such bad shape! I can't even do a push-up, but I'm trying.

I'm sore, but not hugely so...kind of in a feels-good kind of way.

But loving the 20 minutes and will keep it up!! Anyone else start?

Melissa, it hurts less if you buck up and do it. The more often you do it, the less sore you end up! It warms you up, loosens you up, and gets you going

I think that has been part of my problem all day. I sit at a desk so I am not moving those muscles and everytime I get up, I almost fall back down in pain. I will probably give it a go again, but I don't think I will be moving like I did last night!

Melissa I felt the same way. The next day I was so sore but when I went to do day two doing the excerises didn't hurt that bad. Then the day after I was still sore but not as bad.

I started last night. I was hoping to get in day 2 today but didn't get home until after 8. I'm going to try and get up early and do it so I know I'm getting it in every day.

I need to try it. I'm one that owns it but has never started it. I got it right before surgery and am trying to get back to normal and slowly adding in working out. I think this might kill me right now. :/

I ended up with a migraine yesterday and didn't do it last night. For those of you who have completed this, did you ever skip a day? Plan to get back to it tonight.

Mary, everyone knows that life happens. The important thing is just getting back to it instead of throwing in the towel because you missed a day. 1 day is no biggie!

Thankfully I have the DVD in waiting for after the baby.
My best friend has it too and she said it is totally worth it. I can't wait to start it.

Mary, many (maybe even most?) people can't do 30 days straight in a row.

I'm super sore from day 1, almost embarrassingly so! I don't feel like I worked it hard enough to be as sore as I am!

I'm actually not that sore. I'm either not doing the exercises right, or am not in as bad of shape as I thought. And I highly doubt it's the latter. :P

But I can tell I skipped last night - much less sore today. I'll get back to it tonight!

I'm bumping this... I can't believe it, but after a couple of weeks, Level 1 is too easy! I'm moving on to Level 2. So happy to see some progress!

Would love to hear other progress updates!

I'm doing day 8 tonight. One more night of level one and then I'm going to give level two a shot. I'm still having a little bit of a problem completely the ab part. But I figure my c-section scar is only 10 weeks old and its still sore/tender so thats whats keeping me from being able to finish the that last set of abs (but then my scar is very painful for me).

I've lost my 30 Day Shred DVD. Haven't used it in months, and now when I want it I can't find it. Ugh! It's driving me crazy, because it has to be in the house somewhere. Until I find it I'm walking everyday for 45-50mins, and doing a Pilates DVD afterwards. I'm feeling good, but it's nothing like the 30DS.

I have been doing the 30DS eating about 1200-1300 calories a day and walking 2-3 miles a day. I have lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks.

I've had a really hard time sticking with anything this month. We're heading up to NY tonight for the weekend, but I'm hoping to get back on the horse next week.

I told you it was worth it! Keeping kicking butt and working at it, you're doing awesome!
