Default Question for FB gurus...

Do you have any idea why I'm not getting updates in my live feed from my "pages" - for example several scrapbook pages, my food blog pages, magazine pages, etc. They used to always show up in my feed but now they don't or are only once in a very great while.

For some reason on my Blackberry I get everything but not on my computer. Any ideas?

The nice thing about the lists is that you can click on them and see ONLY your Scrapbooking likes. I found this very helpful during DSD. I just clicked on my Scrapbooking List and was able to go through it systematically looking for coupons and freebies from my favorite designers! So nice! I also have a list called "All My Friends." Every time I add a friend, I add them to my "All My Friends" list and then I can see everyone's status without all the scrapbooking stuff and my other likes cluttering what I'm looking at. Same for "Family" or for friends from different parts of my life (High School, College, states that I've lived in, etc.) So convenient!

I can see where the lists are going to be helpful once I get them set up. I just dumped them all into 1 list this weekend because I was in a hurry but tomorrow I'll take the time to categorize them

Instead of paying, I'd just encourage your fans to set up interest lists. SSD and one other scrapbook store have been really good about doing this for fans. I'd probably also ask questions of subscribers that get them to interact with you, as those who interact more tend to get your FB feed more reliably.

Your interest lists will occasionally post on your feed, though, but it's never when you really want it to happen.

Also, if you interact with those pages, they are more apt to show up on your feed, so commenting helps there.

But yeah, interest lists are the way to make it happen, which means time sensitive stuff will get lost (like if you're a coupon person - you'll miss out on coupon things since it won't post, especially if you don't interact with that page ever).

I understand what FB is doing...it cuts down on their load, helps them make money to pay all those pesky shareholders now, but for the small pages - they're being punished for those really massive pages.

I really wish there was an alternative to Facebook. I'm really tired of all the ads I keep seeing pop up in my newsfeed .

I think that basically it means you have to interact with and engage your customers. If you have an interesting page, people will respond and you'll get better traffic. I don't think that means you all have to be constantly creating freebies: you should get paid for your work. But I think it helps if you work at asking questions of your customers, ask them to click like if they love a layout or kit preview or an element or paper that you are really proud of creating, etc. I have noticed some designers sharing inspiration pin boards or just providing small helpful tips, I think you just have to work at building up a following.

I really enjoy all your FB fan pages and I check my scrapbooking interest list all the time.

They making you pay to post?? I've subscribed to the SSD interest list and one other store, and I've created one for just my favourite designers.

Chantal - no, you can post..but you only reach from 10-30% of your 'fan' base at a time in most instances. you have to pay to promote it to get it to more of your fans.
