Tagging in Windows 7 - you can have life after ACDSee!
Why did no one ever tell me that you could tag in Wind7?!?!?!?
Well, I'm sure it was said over and over and over again, but I never bothered to check it out, thinking my preview way of life was working just fine, thankyouverymuch. Then..we were trying to find photos of our Callie, whom we lost this week, and realized that the way I do photo files just isn't condusive to searches. In the back of my mind I remembered someone saying you could tag in Wind7, so while I'm here trying to sort my digi-files (copying previews over to theme folders to make searches easier for me), I thought to go search the interwebs for tagging in Wind7 so I could tag some kits and photos... Holy Cow - it's so easy...and amazing! Simply right click on your preview file: Click Properties Click Details Tab Click to the right of "tag" to get a dialogue box Tag away separating each tag with a ; I put digi first to make sure my digifiles come first; photos first for pictures. To tag photos Use the option above for each photo or: Open Windows Photo Gallery choose the photo click the tag tab and add the tags the same way. When needed, open your search box in Windows and find just what you need! Still trying to figure out how to tag .png's..and will add it when I find it. |

I've always tagged in Windows Photo Gallery! Works great in Windows 7. Unlike *jpegs (which store the tag information in the file) a *.png does not. You'll need another program to be the 'front' in order to tag *.png's. Windows Photo Gallery (a free download here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../photo-gallery ) will do that. For *.png's it creates a seperate database to store the tag information (since it can't be stored in the *.png file). Also...just FYI: if you start tagging alot of *.png's in Photo Gallery...better make sure you are backing up the Photo Gallery database!!!

Hee-hee Darcy! I know I have mentioned this several times in this forum! I have been using this for a couple of years now, and I love it (did it in Windows Vista too).
