Default Local Sinkhole

These things freak me out as much as the critters down here! This one is right in my town just a few miles from our home. So far, no injuries (thank goodness), but the helicopters are overhead and lots of sirens today.

You can read the full story and see pics here: Dunedin Sinkhole

Seriously. It's insane. The ground just opens up and swallows stuff. What?

I saw that this morning and shared it on my BIL's FB wall. lol. I tease them all the time that they live in sinkhole valley. But, the truth is, they are all over Florida. We have a few in our area that are slow sinkholes. They just keep filling them back up.

When I lived down there I was wary of every crack in the tile, walls, ceilings... it was ridiculous. Its so devastating too!

It has been expanding overnight, but they're starting the filling process this morning. Thank goodness it wasn't worse!

I talked to our friends who live in Dunedin and they said it is about 2 miles from them and that it can stay there. Those things are scary! I think I'll just take my cold winters and like them

maybe I live under a rock, but I've never even heard of this before! I mean, I've heard the word before, but I didn't realize they could happen like that. Crazy!! Glad no one was hurt.

No fun, Jenn! It's amazing just how prevalent those things are down here, isn't it?
