Need help posting in the gallery...
Hi, I'm new here... I'm trying to post a couple of pages in the gallery and every time I do I get an error message saying that the file size is too big... how do I make it small enough to be able to post? I thought I was saving them at a really low resolution but I guess not.
Are there tips posted somewhere or somebody can help? thanks! |

resize to 600x600 and make sure the file size is under 150kb. (if you still need help, just let us know what program you use and one of us can give you some tips!)

First, what program are you using? That'll help us best answer your question.
One quick tip: Resolution is irrelevant on the web. The numbers that matter are the pixel dimensions of the file, and the actual file size. E.g. 600pixels x 600pixels and 150kb, or less. You could make that file 72 dpi or 1000 dpi, and it's still going to be the same size, and it's still going to look the same on the web. If you're using PS, you should be able to easily size your image to less than 150kb and 600x600 or smaller. Just let us know if it's PS or some other program, and one of us will be able to get you there! |

Another thing that can be a hinderance is if you have a lot of text in the comment section where you put the credits etc. If there's a lot there, it gets hung up. Copy and paste it, delete it and upload your image, then edit it and add it back in.

download this program, it's free and super. irfanview. then go to it open up your big layered psd file, go to view or one of the menus on the top and resize it to 600x600, it should default to a jpeg. then your good to go to stick it in the gallery. HTH!

In Elements, you can first resize your image (Image > Resize > Image Resize - I think)...then go to File > Save For Web...from there you just use the "quality" slider on the right side until your file size is under 150kb (you'll see the file size under the preview in the dialogue box).

don't worry about that 150kb stuff. as long as you make it 600x600 and flatten it aka turn it into a jpeg, your good to go!

Mary, if you use the Save For Web feature in your PSE, you can adjust the final file size there and get it below 150kb. |
