Photo Comparison.....can you help?
Just wondering if you can tell me which photo looks better to you on your computer screens....A or B
A is SOOC and B is edited. I got a new monitor and on my old monitor, A looks awful (really dark) so I edited it in lightroom ....which is photo B. On my new monitor A actually looks good and I probably wouldn't have even edited it much. What are you seeing on your computers? Does B look TOO overexposed/bright? TIA! I don't think my monitor is calibrated, but A still looks a little dark for me and I like B better

B. I'm uncalibrated, but my laptop screen prints pretty true to life... I've figured out how to adjust it so the light hits it and I get a true color. A is way too dark.

Not calibrated, but prints right on.
A too dark. B looks awesome. Super cute photo.

My monitor is calibrated - B is definitely better. A is underexposed. I pulled your photos in PS to check the histogram and just a little of her hat and jacket is blown out on B, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm on a calibrated laptop. B is good, A is too dark. My computer's default settings are very bright (since that's best for video games and movies). If I looked at it with my calibration turned off, A would look a little dark but not nearly as dark as it does on the calibrated screen.

Thanks eveyone....What do you guys use to calibrate your monitors with? To me the new monitors colors look okay, it's more just a brightness/contrast issue.

This has been a rather helpful thread for me, lol. I think A is too dark and B looks wonderful. My photos would probably edit similar to yours here on my laptop at home, but often when I bring them into work to edit, they look completely different. My monitor settings at work get changed because it's easy to hit buttons when trying to turn them off, so it's good to know that my gut was right (edit here at home, lol).

Like everyone else, A is too dark and B is just right on my laptop. I'm not calibrated either but it prints pretty true. I always cringe when I view my layouts on my computer at work because the colors always look wonky. It took me a while to realize that it was the monitor and not the actual layouts.

I calibrate with a Spyder 2 Express. It was cheaper than the Spyder 3 and still works with Windows 7 (not all of the Spyder 2's do), but basically does the same job with fewer options. Before I started calibrating I'd played with my home printer settings so that things I printed at home looked good, but everything I sent out to have printed looked terrible.

What everyone else said... But I've learned a lot about calibrating in this thread too, but thankfully they seem to print true to my screen... I'm THE worst about editing my photos though to make them look more professional. This is great reminder. She's a doll too!

Mine is calibrated (EyeOneDisplay2) and yep A is much too dark, B looks a lot better. One of the biggest things for my calibration was the brightness was way too high. Now mine prints spot on!

I much prefer B but my only issue is that her coat loses some of that gorgeous color.
I have a dumb question. Meagan said that she pulled it into PS to look at the histogram. Exactly what does one look at in the histogram to see if a photo is good or not? talk to me like I'm dumb because in this case, I am. :-)
