cleaning micro fiber couch?

we have some water stains on our couch and just wondering the best way to clean them without damaging them..

Water stains? Weird. I just wipe my micro fiber with a damp clothe and it gets everything out. I am clueless how to get "water" out. LOL

I don't know about water stains, but we've been able to use a carpet cleaner on ours (the couches say it will work) but there are often rings left. So sometimes I'll flip the cushions over while it dries and that seems to help.

I'm with Tara on this one, Kristin . . . I haven't a clue how to get water stains out! Hopefully somebody will know . . .

I will never get a microfiber couch again. Mine is full of little water mark type stains. Every little spill seems to stay. Every once in while I pick up the microfiber cleaner stuff, and wipe down the entire couch, but with 2 little kids...and a messy husband it doesn't stay clean long.

if they get to bad you could get a sofa cover and that can be washed if it ever gets dirty. Just a thought

Our dining room chairs have micro fiber covers on the seats and they are TERRIBLE. We clean them periodically if we're having company over or for a special occasion, but as soon as my 4-yr-old touches them, they're filthy again.

BUT...we can get them looking brand new easily enough. We use a cleaner called Folex that we purchase at Home Depot. It's in a big industrial-looking white spray bottle. I'm sure it's full of toxic chemical and this is the ONLY thing we use it for (it's also for carpet cleaning and works well for that, but it scares me. I tend to stick with non-chemical stuff in my home and this Folex is full of chemicals I'm sure). But it works AMAZINGLY well on the micro-fiber. We spray those chair covers down and then take a scrub brush and just scrub the crap out of them. Then we use a towel to sort of blot them dry as good as we can, then just don't touch them until they're dry. They look BRAND NEW after that. That is of course until the next little bit of water splashes on them or a grubby hand touches them!!

another thing I thought of isnt there some sort of treatment you can put on it that makes it repel water? which of course I cannot think of the name LOL. (as you can tell I do not have a microfiber couch)

DITTO!!!! the only thing I read was to use vinegar and water {1/2 and 1/2} but no sooner do I get mine clean, they are dirty again! Once we get our taxes back, we are getting a leather couch and the microfiber is going AWAY!!!!!

Ditto on the vinegar and water. I spray mine down with vinegar/water mix, and rub it down gently with a DRY towel. That cleans it up and lifts the microfibers, making the sofa look like new. After it's dry, I give it a spray with ScotchGard. This repels water and dirt. I do this every six months. I've had my sofa for 4-5 years and it's still in great condition, even with a little one (well, maybe not so little anymore), and 2 moves, one a long distance move.

We have a micro-fiber couch and I hate it. lol thought it was great when we bought it but after having a little one I will never get one again!! We've used the upholstery cleaner that you can rent (well you buy the bottle but rent the cleaner) and that worked for a bit. I'll have to try the 1/2 water & vinegar!

We've been in our house for almost 6 years now (and that's how long we've had our couches)... and we haven't had much trouble at all (and they're super light colored too). I have a very strict no food/drink rule and I guess my girls don't have dirty hands? It's not perfect by any means, but unless you are looking closely at them, you don't notice most of it.

i have the BEST thing to do to clean microfiber furniture. ours always gets worn and looks like leather in spots.

take a loofah and dove bar soap. scrub it until it looks clean (as clean as you can get it while it's wet) and when it dries it looks like new furniture. a friend gave me this hint and oh my gosh, my furniture looked like new after i did it.

So, do you use enough water to help it spread? And do you scrub with just water after the soap? Or does the soap dry without problems?

it's kinda crunchy at first when it dries, but it softens up. i just used a tub of water with the soap in it and sort of rubbed the bar of soap on the loofah. so i didn't use a TON of soap, but it definitely got the job done.

We have micro-fiber and we've just cleaned it with a carpet-cleaner, using the upholstery attachments. That's the only thing that we've found works.

And since I just dumped my water bottle all over the love seat last week (forgot to tighten the lid), it's about due for a cleaning! LOL

We have had our micro-fiber couch for 10 years and it has held up pretty well with 4 kids. We have just taken our steam cleaner to it when its looking dingy or has stains and it looks like new every time we steam clean it.
