Default show me your kitchen

Please?!

I am trying to pick a paint color and havent liked several samples yet.

I like to see colors IN a REAL room. So much better than the swatches or company generated rooms.

Edited to add --- I have been sampling colors on the wall in MY kitchen ... but even at $4 a bottle it adds up and yes it doesn't show true color in pictures it's better than the store generated previews. . . . You see something you like in a friends house and it gives you direction on where to go when you keep going in circles.

I think you can upload a photo of your kitchen on one of the paint stores and see how the paint looks in your room? I just cant remember which one now....or maybe I just imagined this LOL. If I can think of where I saw it I will post it for you.

Dang I knew I did not imagine it LOL. It is at Benjamin Moore

RED! I love love love red in a kitchen. My last place was an apartment so we didn't have a lot of walls to paint, but we painted the kitchen red (and yes, the living room was...lavender [and i loved it!]). I coudln't find a pic of the kitchen itself, since it was so smallish, not like I took a lot of photos in there...but if you can ignore the pregger lady, here's the best picture I could find of it...

We are in the process of redoing our kitchen. We picked a shade of green from sherwin williams called Dancing Green.

Or at least for now that's what we've decided on...it could change since we haven't actually bought the paint yet

You might want to check out decorpad[dot]com and search the photos there or ask in their forum. I use it all the time, especially now that we just moved into our new house.

Here's a few from me...I'm surprised I didn't lighten up the first 2 before I uploaded them to FB. There is only one room in our new house (moved in last May) that isn't brown or beige.

Mine is more of a dark taupe. It is a Ralph Lauren color....siberian sand? I think that is what it is called. I needed something neutral because I did black distressing on the cabinets. I totally love my kitchen! My dining room is the same theme and colors but I have one wall that is red. Red is always good too!

I hope that helps you!

In my old house I had a main color that went almost throughout the house except for bedrooms and this color continued into the dining area and into the kitchen, except that I did a "faux" brick look in the kitchen to change it up a bit. See below to see what I mean. Hope it helps!

The color is a light beige called Bellecreek from True Value's Easy Care. Very good quality paint.

This is a corner of my kitchen. It's awful, lol! We're not finished renovating our house yet!!!

I LOVE red, too- it's my dining room color! A very deep red... my kitchen & dining room colors flow together.

I love red too. Our living room is red. We're redoing our kitchen and it's going to be warm carmel--well, a lighter version. I'm testing some paints today. Then I'm going to use turquoise and red for accents and curtains... to tie in the red from the living room but still have a pop of color!

Priscilla, if you find a few colors you might like there are some things you can do to test it out at home (since lighting and all that will change how the color looks). Get a small sample bottle of the color and paint a decent sized piece of foam core, and then "hang" it up (tape would probably work well for a few days) around the room to see how the color looks in different lighting. That way, you can test the color, but if you have ppl over you can just take it down instead of a bunch of random splotches of color all over your walls.

Now I want to paint this weekend, lol! We've been in the house 3 years and still haven't painted the kitchen!

I can tell you that based on the house hunting I've been doing for San Antonio, red is a REALLY popular color in Texas.

This is our current kitchen (sorry for the crap photo haha). Our cabinets are tall so they go to the ceiling so the only paint is really right above the sink and near the pantry but it's the same color we have throughout the downstairs and hallways - Latte from Sherwin Williams.

Our dining room and kitchen are one big space (actually the entire downstairs is open) so this is our dining accent wall. You can see the Latte color on the left wall which is directly to the right of the fridge. The green is Rural Green from Sherwin Williams.

I agree with painting a foam core board and hanging it up for a while. The colors online and in a showroom look nothing like they do in YOUR house with YOUR lighting.

Took me 8 tries for our bathroom and once for our kitchen because of this technique. I don't have time right now to take a pic of our kitchen, but it is a VERY subtle green/beige. Actually what is funny I picked the color off of a shirt my DH owns. I wanted something neutral since we will be moving in a year or two and will have to sell. Plus we have black granite and orange/brown tilework so the green makes them pop without being too GREEN.

I do love red too, but sometimes it is overwhelming to some people (and yes we live in Texas and saw A LOT of red house hunting). I painted my youngest's room below the chair rail red. White trim and tan above and it is so freakin' cute!!! So I got my red in there, just a little!

I'm looking to paint my living room next and having a hard time picking a color there since again...we'll be moving soon and it is a BIG room with HIGH ceilings. So I don't want to have to repaint before we sell.

I'vedone this with 2 shades for the kitchen and FIVE for the bathroom! HAHAH

So thats why I wanted to see more to help narrow my choices. Even at $3 a bottles those samples add up.

not pleased with any yet

Then my next suggestion would be to just pull paint swatches and tape those up before you go buying more sample, lol. Also, try and pin point what it is about the specific colors that you've already tried and don't like. That way you don't repeat the same mistake with more samples.

and like swatches arent always true to paint on the wall either

I picked a color called Rum Spice. On the paper it looked very warm and cozy. Medium red. on my wall it was flat out nothing but pink mauve. .. blech.

Here's mine. It's taupe with accents of red and black. It was white before this and I was really nervous when I started painting but I love the way it turned out.

These photos are great! I'm thinking about painting my kitchen also. It's painted a sage green, but when the sun shines on it, there is too much blue in the color and it bugs me. We obviously picked the wrong color. I want to redo the whole thing now.

Our curtains are now green, though.

And Lynette... our dining rooms are the same color!

I share but you would all laugh. I am working on getting the wallpaper down in my kitchen so I can paint so right now the walls are white with wallpaper accents. LOL! I plan on going with a khaki color on my walls and maybe a red accent wall though. Haven't completely decided yet.

Ours is a red that is very close to Lena's. I guess that goes right along with what Lynette said about Texas

Tara I LOVE your cabinets, did you paint them yourself?
