Question random question

Just thought I'd throw a random question out there:

Are you saving to buy anything? Either you as just yourself or you as a couple or family?

Same here. I think unless I actually take the money and put it in an envelope somewhere that's the only way I'll actually be saving for it.

I would really love a DSLR and I know DH won't buy me one so it's up to me to get it.

Let's see, where shall I start...

Couple Wishlist:
FENCE AND DECK FOR THE LOVE! (Hopefully by the end of the summer, or else I might be in jail for killing my husband)
Buy my Dad's car off him (by the end of the year probably)
Hardwood floors for the house
Update the master bath
Update kitchen

Personally:
85mm
30/35mm
Full frame DSLR (HA! This will happen approximately never)
CS5
LR3

I could go on, but it gets depressing. And we don't even have kids yet! Lol!

well we are working on paying off debit - so that all comes first. And then saving for a house. and somewhere in there I would love to get a DSLR. I have a SLR but I haven't used it in years....it's just sitting in my closet.

Furniture for our new house...I can't wait!

Unfortunately, we paid 2 mortgages for 6 months last year (thank you housing crisis)...so it'll be awhile!

Saving for two trips - one as a family to Disneyland/San Diego. The other for our 16th wedding anniversary (a trip to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean). Oh, and I can't forget saving for the kids' college fund too...

Does saving to pay our taxes for next year count? LOL!

DH has promised me he would take me on a trip to France and England for our 10th anniversary- so we have a little over 2 years to save for that.

Well, I had been saving for a new lens for my Rebel since Christmas but with my birthday this week I finished that up.

Now it looks like our dishwasher is dying so we'll be saving up for that. Soooo not as fun as a new lens.

Personally saving for a new camera bag and a 70-200 lens. (I have to put money into an envelope in my secret hiding place to buy camera equipment)

As a couple we are building our savings at the moment.

We're trying to increase the amount we save in the kids' college accounts.

Personally...probably a laptop. DH and I each have a small account of our own that we can use for whatever we want. I'm trying to rebuild mine from a few unplanned purchases I've made this past year (p&s camera and CS3 to replace broken ones). If nothing else dies and needs replacing, my next purchase will probably be a new laptop in a year or so.

Nope, because we're putting extra money toward debt.

hmm... it feels like we have been saving for the same things over and over again... and then something happens and those funds get used... we aren't vacation people... so we don't have a fund for that.

On-going
car fund... will need to replace our cars in 5 years
house fix fund... I'd love new appliances, hardwood floors, new carpet, granite countertops
Basement fund... fix up the basement to get additional 800 sqft and make my craft room less depressing
technology fund... computer upgrades, etc

silly stuff...
Hubby wants an iPad and/or kindle
me... I spend way too much on scrapping and digi stuff... that hubby has put me on a budget. So I need to save some of the monthly allowance for printing...

We're always saving money lol...it's all DH..if it were up to me we'd probably have zero savings lol...we paid off all of our debt several years and and we now pay cash for EVERYTHING...so if we want something we save for it..(including our new Odyssey which took a few years and A LOT of patience but it's soo nice to have a brand new van and no car payment).

Right now I'm personally saving up for:
Kindle
a new 1TB EHD
2-3 new lenses lol!
Lightroom 3
the list goes on and on lol

DH is wanting
and ipad
a bunch of hunting stuff that I don't even know what it is lol

We're saving for an uninsured root canal and truck repairs. We ran through our 'emergency savings' account at the begining of the year and every time we start building it back up another emergency happens.

We're also saving $2500 for a home improvement to be named later. Possibly a mud room off the kitchen, or paving the gravel area of the patio or even a mock garage. Depends on what the various construction part costs & what time of year it is when we achieve the goal.

we're pretty good at stashing money away since DH gets laid off every winter. it's just a way of life for us...

i personally am saving up for CS3, a new lens, and a tattoo in August.

dh is always saving for hunting crap and/or golf stuff.

together we're saving for a cruise (again!) in Februaryish and a trip to Wisconsin Dells at some point this winter.
