halloween costumes
It has been YEARS since I've had to think about a child's halloween costume, but I TOTALLY want to dress Chloe up this year. Jeff likes to make the costumes, but I'm not opposed to buying if I can find a good deal on something super cute.
So, share with me the cutest, most clever baby girl costumes you've seen! Here's a picture of my little Bean for inspiration. (She'll be 8 months old by halloween time if that matters) |

I love costumes...and I'll admit we dressed Rachel up more than once a year
For her first Halloween, she was only 3 days old, so we didn't do the whole costume thing...she wore a Pooh bodysuit and we left it at that. The next year, I found a super cute octopus costume on Ebay Mom made the next couple of costumes, and I also checked out Target and Walmart on November 1 and picked up some stuff for dress up play and photos.

LOL at our house we're already planning Halloween costumes AND a costume for Dr Seuss Day in March...I don't want to get stuck planning at the last minute again!

Ugh. Do I have to start thinking about Halloween? If I ignore it, will it go away?
Really though . . . Chloe will look cute in anything. Make sure you let us see pics of her final costume!

hahaha yes! But as a designer, I work about 2 months ahead of the normal person's calendar. LOL So, I've already got a halloween kit on the schedule, and that made me start thinking about costumes!

That's OK then. For a minute I thought I was in a Star Trek time warp sort of thing

At 8 months you can probably still do anything, but from about 10 months to 2 years, I find that the closer a costume is to "regular clothes," the more likely the toddler is to wear it without freaking out. My kids wouldn't wear anything with hats, tails, bulky stuff that made it hard to move, etc.
For Lauren's first Halloween, she was 9 months old. After years of only boy costumes, I insisted on a princess knowing that it might be my only chance for a super girly costume. (By nearly 2, I figured she'd have some favorite characters inspired by the boys' preferences. She certainly did have preferences by then, but definitely not ones inspired by her brothers.)
