Default easy & yummy granola bar recipe

http://www.quietfish.com/notebook/?p=1642

I just thought I would share. My family loves granola bars in lunches but I was getting tired of buying them at the store (it adds up quick!) so I found this recipe. I have made them before with a diff. recipe but it was time consuming. This one is straight forward and simple and quick!

They look great. Thanks for sharing!

So I don't cook things like this much, but what is ground flax? Can I get it in a normal grocery store or would I need to go somewhere special?

I actually didn't use any flax since I didn't have it on hand but most times you should be able to find it in the natural or organic section of your grocery store

we don't have one of those here.. we only have an itty bitty market. boo

That looks tons easier than the one I tried before. Thanks Kristin! We go through granola bars like they're going out of style.

I don't get it, either. Somehow they have it stuck in their little brains that they don't like oats. Crazy since they both eat GRANOLA bars and OATMEAL...I'm going to try again in a couple of weeks and see how it goes.

I should try that. I love granola bars, but they are pretty spendy.

I have been making a recipe simular to this for a while....mine uses egg whites only, and no flax, otherwise it is the same.

We like it best with dried blueberries instead of cranberries or raisins. I think any dried fruit would work. DH puts nutella on his to make them more chocolatey.

Looks yummy!

Dumb question, what is the texture like? Are these the chewy type of granola?

I'm thinking throwing in peanut butter and chocolate chips instead of the dried fruits would be good?

Or pb and raisins ... or pb and raisins and choc chips ...
