Default oh my!

So my sister asked me to design her wedding invites. It's been fun but I've discovered that her scientific brain doesn't necessarily pick the most eye pleasing design. Mainly she wants the start of each line to be capitalized. It is driving me a bit crazy but oh well! As long as she is happy! LOL

Ha, ha, yeah, you learn a lot about someone's thought process when you design something for them. I designed a card for a friend and had a very similar experience. It definitely made me wonder why she wanted to work with me in the first place if she didn't trust my design esthetic. In the end, she went with my suggestions (I showed her what her idea looked like executed vs. what I had in mind). I'm sure whatever you end up with will look fabulous!

Oh, I used to make invitations for people all the time (before the templates were everywhere), I would just send 3-4 examples, never had anyone ask me to change lots of stuff. That would be annoying. lol

oh man. That can be hard. I do custom christmas cards and some of my clients get realllly tricky. I had my best client yet last winter because she actually knew what she wanted and when she gave feedback, it was things like "can we try a font that is still scripty but not as cursive" and "I really love this font, but can we mix it with a more traditional font to emphasize part of the wording" rather than my usual ones that are all "I like this but can you change the font so it's easier to read and bigger but not taking up any more space and make it softer too"

This may be a stretch... But this totally reminded me of this portlandia skit:

Make things for people the way they want them is a wee bit crazy making...

that's awesome Shawna! I am sure if she was watching me design it over my shoulder she would have closely resembled those characters! LOL

I will post the invite tonight She's happy with it! That's all that really matters

Makes me twitch sometimes when people do that. We do know what looks good, they should trust us! That being said we have to do as they ask no mater how painful right?

I used to work for a greeting card company, and had a customer wanted "The Smiths" to be typed "The Smith's" (The Smiths welcome their baby or whatever it was)….I nearly lost my mind. I just could not. PLEASE LISTEN TO US LOL!
