Default things your kids say that get under your skin..

ugh.
now ce has said/done far worse things.. but this one has me ready to pop my head off. It's the simplest little phrase..not a big deal.
but I hear it 43634646433247802352389572752389527385 times a day.
"Am I a bad boy"
yes. is that what you want me to say?!
geezus! I never call him a bad boy, and he's well old enough to know if he did something wrong- it's just his way of avoiding usually. "ce do your chores" .. "I don't want to.. am I a bad boy?" ...........><
"mom can I watch tv?" "not right now connor" "am I a bad boy?!"
all.
day.
long.

I'm going to jump out the window.

"can i ask you something"

"can i tell you something"

first we tell her if she wants to ask us a question it should be "may" and not "can" second we keep telling her - just ask/tell us. ahhhhhhhhh!

everytime she talks she says this first. it is making me crazy! LOL!

I get SO sick of hearing this:

Kid: Mom, I'm hungry.
Me: Go make yourself a sandwich then.
Kid: But, I don't like what's in there.
Me: Then go make some ramen.
Kid: We don't have the flavors I like.
Me: Then make a bowl of cereal.
Kid: But, we don't have any more Fruit Loops.
Me: Then figure it out for yourself.
Kid: But, mom, I'm hungry!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're THAT hungry, you'll eat what's available! ERR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I hear this one a lot too:

Kid: Mom, can I have some money for lunch.
Me: I just gave you $20 yesterday.
Kid: But, so and so didn't have any money and I bought her lunch. And I was thirsty after school and bought a Mt. Dew.
Me: Well, I'm sorry. That $20 was supposed to last you all week. It isn't my fault you blew it in one day.
Kid: But, mom! I need lunch money!
Me: Sorry!

I hate hearing
"mom. mom. Mom, I have to tell you something."
"what is it emma?"
"uum. um. um. ya know that one time, we, we, we....we...."
"seriously emma? what is it?"
"um, I don't remember momma."

or my favorite
"can we go outside now?"
Yes, love. We sure will as soon as it stops raining buckets and stops lightning.

I love her I honestly do...she just likes to listen to herself talk!

Is it snack time yet? How about now? Now? I'm hungry for a snack. How long until snack time?

LOL... and it's not like snack time is this extravagant treat session... it's usually veggies or crackers and cheese or apples or something. Geesh kids!

My two older ones also have started saying this in the last few months:

Mom, did I tell you that you look fabulous today?

Um...sure, what do you want? Not that I don't like hearing it, but I KNOW it's because they want something.

JP adds "meh" or "myeh" to the end of every single thing he says. It almost sounds like a laugh--but it's not.

They both run around here saying "peeeeeeeeeeeeeeengween" and "peeeeg" over and over and over again. I'm so ready to ban all things penguin and pig from the house.

And then there's, "Can we come down?"

You know what? No--stay upstairs. Only adults can be downstairs. Ugh! It's as if they truly feel like they're not allowed to be down here even though I say the same thing every time they ask that question. "Of course you can...you live here, don't you?" (Ok, occasionally I do say no, but only when I'm trying to do something that they'd interfere with, yk?)

"What THE..." comes from all three of them. I'm going to start collecting money for every time they say that!

My DD will say that she does things a certain way "but I don't know why..." HUH? example "I like my cereal without milk. I don't know why..." "I'm wearing my earings backwards today. I don't know why..."

Tyler starts every sentence he says to me or Jeff with our names. Every time. If you don't immediately say, 'Yes?' he will continue to repeat our name until we acknowledge him. It drives me insane. Ironically, I often have to repeat what I'm telling him because he is never paying attention the first time.

He's also the King of Backtalk which is one of my biggest pet peeves. I'm not sure if he backtalks his mom or if there's no need to since mostly things go his way over there, but at least once every other week, we have to have a discussion abt respect, doing what adults tell you to do, and not telling adults to shush. This always involves a lot of whining, bawling, and shouting on his part. Good times.

and when I tell DD 16 the same thing like 3 times, she says "I heard you the 1st time!"...then why the hell didn't youdo it the 1st time

Janny, I'm feeling your pain. Cameron (7) got into a bad habit of saying "What The..." all.the.time. We finally started punishing him when he said it. Now he finally stopped. Thank goodness because it was driving me crazy!

My 9 year-old daughter taught my 3 year-old son to say "Okey dokey, artichoke-y." Now I admit that at first I thought it was cute, but after hearing it 892849824 times a day...not so much anymore.

Whatever...that is oone of my kids favorite words. My oldest mainly. She says it ALOT!!!! To me saying whatever is kinda liker saying Im an idiot or "F-You" without actually saying it. My youngest has discovered curse words. I know I do curse but not alot. I can go all day without saying a single one but I hear him saying them all. the. time!!! I have tried ignoring him, tried punishing him, tried talking to him and nothing really helps. I think he thinks it makes him sound older/tougher/cooler. My middle child does the "Mom, Can I ask you something?" alot. I tell him well yes you can and you just did :-) OR "I dont know, can you?" Around that time I get a "Whatever" LOL

Well, mine's just 4 so he doesn't really know how to be a smart-alec yet, but whining...that drives me nuts and he knows that one little whine will get his nose stuck in the corner quick. It like goes up my spine and makes my head spin..cannot stand whining of any type.

oh man .... I have a lot of sayings/things that drive me nuts ...

from the 14 yo - "That's What She Said", "Whatever", "Argh" (the last two said when I tell him to do something he obviously doesn't want to do/punish him/ask him a question), "O-M-G"

from the 10 yo - "Mom, can I go to the library today?" (ok, so I really don't mind this ... but she wants to go to the library every single day - so convenient now that we live right across the street - and really, I don't care if she does - but the library is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and she knows this, but asks anyways), "I forgot", "I didn't do it, it was ...."

from the 6 yo - "ARGH" (learned from the big brother), "It wasn't me, it was ...", "I don't have to listen to you"

from the 4 yo - "Ooooo-Tayyyy" ("OK", said it in the most sarcastic annoying tone), "I don't love you". This one kills me everytime. I hate when they say that! We have a rule in our house ... you have to love someone always, you just don't have to like them. And he knows this. He just does it to piss his siblings off when he doesn't get his way.

It's not what he says its the way that he says it lol he's a cheeky little monkey as well but mostly I just find that amusing especially since his answers usually make a lot of sense. It's dh that says lots and lots of things that get on my nerves and make me want to smack him I can tolerate either of them on their own but when they get together it's really not very long before I want to kill someone, or go and lock myself in the bathroom to get away from them. I have never ever seen two people who can drive each other so crazy just by being in the same room. I swear within 5 minutes of them walking into a room together dh starts acting like a 5 year old and Lukas is like a completely different kid. *sigh* sorry that turned into a bit of a rant didn't it. Hugs Crystal

"I don't know" means "I don't want to think..."

What did you do at school today? I don't know...
What do you want to eat? I don't know...
Who was there? I don't know...

Sigh.

Oh, and Mom, mom, mom...

oh. my. gosh....

math... always with the math, my 5 and 6 year olds are obbbbsessed with addition.

"mom whats 214 plus 376?"
"mom whats 58 plus 29?"
"mom does 12 plus 20 equal 40?"

seriously.... i know this isn't very nurturing mommy of me, but goooooood lord it drives me BATTY.... i don't know. i don't care. don't make me think children!!!"

that and the tattling...

"mom owen said he doesn't like me"
"mom reece said I'm stupid!!!"

AHHHHHH!
I have been making before noon rules.... no math before noon. no fighting before noon....

surprizingly the kids will accept this rule as a matter of fact, it cracks me up when one of them starts to tattle, and then they go "ohhh yeah, i remember... it isn't noon yet," or, "mom, have we had lunch? whats 14 plus 87?"

lordy...

DS is almost 4 and he's potty trained but still wears protection at night. Sometimes after we put it on him at night, he'll poop. Then we have to clean it up and he says, "Don't say yucky words. Don't say yucky words." Like, hello, I'll say all the yucky words (like gross, peeuuww, nasty, disgusting) I want since I'm cleaning poo off your hiney.

Also, when he doesn't get the answer he wants to a question he asks, then he'll just start saying "What you say? What you say?" over and over again. Like he's hard of hearing or something.

'Why?' .... 'Why?' ... 'Why?' - and in a really unnecessarily squeaky voice.

My two year old started it and my three and a half year old is doing it ALL the time now. I now insist that she asks a proper question, otherwise the answer is 'because'.

Oh, and the bickering. Makes me want to put my ipod on...

Keira asks for things like 15 times, that drives me nuts.

The biggest thing she does if she does something wrong and you ask why she did it she replies

Just Because!
