Super Random NSBR Question
This week, I bought a few things at Old Navy and got two coupons for $10 and $20 off that can be used in January and February. I sometimes get things like that from other stores too, like Children's Place or Kohls, etc.
So, my question is . . . how do you keep track of things like this? I don't go out shopping a ton, so I always forget to use them during the period that they're good for. How do you remember which coupons you have and their eligibility dates? I need an app for this. Lol.

I have no idea because I have this problem as well so I will be watching to see if any more organized than I am people have a good solution.
You could maybe use the Reminders app? My problem is always going to the store and THEN realizing I didn't grab the coupon, haha. |

I'm so bad at this too! I just lost $30 Kohls Cash this week because I forgot about it!

I am terrible about using coupons. I used them hardcore for a year or so (on groceries, everywhere). It just takes WAY too much effort on my part to keep track of them and then remember to use them. I also feel like when I do use them it forces me to shop when I don't really need anything. I don't know, ironically I'm thinking I actually spend less now than I did when I used coupons.
The only thing I use now to save $$ is the Cartwheel app at Target and BOGO offers in my Publix grocery store. |

Well, I don't use grocery store coupons. I'm just talking about those bounce back coupons from retail stores. I wouldn't go shopping just to use them, cause I'm not a shopper. But, if I need to get something anyway, it would be a lot better for me to get it when I have a coupon, ya know?
But, it looks like you guys aren't going to be a lot of help. Sheesh.

I keep them tucked in a clip on the visor of my car - that way whenever I go out shopping I just quickly browse through them to see what is usable that week... even if I'm just planning on going grocery shopping I check my visor to see what's there. Not a very great way of organizing but it works for me

i got an old navy coupon a bit ago and it didn't work out like I thought it did. You get 20% off all items up to $20, not straight up $20 off.

Oh well, this is one where you have to spend $50 to get the $20, but it's pretty clearly spelled out in the fine print. I've learned to read the fine print, that's for sure.

Lyd, I've actually set reminders for things like that in my Google calendar so that I get an email reminding me cause I TOTALLY forget otherwise.
I don't do it for all coupons of course, but the big ones like that I don't want to forget. |

That's probably what I'm going to have to do . . . it's the best idea I've seen so far.

yep, google calendar or i'll add it into my Wunderlist app with the due date being when the coupon begins.
i've also taped it to the week it's usable in my planner. that's been the most efficient but that's because it never leaves my side. |

I write the beginning and ending dates into my calendar.

Lucrecia, ask a manager to override it, I've had to do that once and was able to use the Kohl's cash after the expiration date!
Lydia, I have just started to write it down in my planner, about a week before the coupon expires. I'm only doing it for a few places- Kohls, Ulta, Famous Footwear, etc. |

that's one that I got and I thought I read the fine print too. But it ended up taking 20% off everything instead. It was annoying haha

calendar reminders on my phone, plus actually clipping the coupons into my planner for when they are valid

Honestly, it's a great marketing technique for retailers since they get consumers to buy more and only a small percentage get redeemed ... and even through the redemption process, they typically get consumers to spend even more $$. I keep them in my purse, but rarely use them. Most of the time, I'm just not incented to make a purchase, but other times, I just completely forget they exist.
The worst is if you forget to submit a rebate. I had that happen to me once and I was so bummed.

Old Navy sends email reminders. Now that I've moved back overseas, I just get their emails once a week, but they alwasy mention the promos, so if you signed up for their emails, they'd remind you.
