Organizing on a Mac, e.g. Bridge??
Hi there
Happy New Year to all of you. Hopefully you would have a successful 2011. I'm in the lucky situation to have got a new Mac Book Pro - and I love it already. And Adobe has quickly changed my adobe platform from Windows to Mac so everything works perfectly But I have some doubt about organizing my files. I have digistash (mostly SSD as these are the only I use), stuff for digidesign and of course the pictures. For the pictures I was planning to get Adobe Lightroom later this year, so these are not important for now. I started with Bridge but not sure if this is the one. At my pc I used ACDSee and it works beautifully. I'm a kit-scrapper, so my stuff are not organized in details. So dear Macusers, how are you organizing your files? Any suggestion - tips & tricks - would be appreciated Have a nice day!

I organize mine using CocoThumbX and aliases. I have categories for all my stuff, and as I get new stuff, I tag it using an alias through CocoThumbX. Then when I am looking for something, for instance staples, I go to my categories folder and look through my staples until I see the one I want to use. Then open it in CS3.

I use picasa... i'm probably not one to answer organizational questions though as I don't tag I just like it because i find it convenient to browse through..
They do have a beta acdsee for mac - not sure how well it works |

I've been using a program called Tags. I wrote up a longer post about it in this thread: https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ight=Spin+tags

The whole organizational/tagging thing is probably my only frustration with my Mac. I HATE Bridge, and I just have too much stuff between digi supplies & photos for Picasa to keep up with it all. I have been using the Beta version of ACDSee ever since it came out, and I really like it sooooo much better than the other programs I've tried.
Having said that, it IS still in the testing stage . . . unfortunately, every time they release an updated version (a new one is due out next month), it overwrites any tags you've added. But they warn you about that, so it's not a show-stopper for me. Besides which, they've been refining the program for a while now & hopefully the full-blown version will be released SOON . . . and I can hardly wait! |

I'm a Tags user too. I like that it integrates so well with all of my programs. But, I have to admit that I haven't taken much time to do a lot of organizing. I need to do that - it's on my list.
