some really good news for our family
So I am not sure if anyone actually sees my blog or not and I posted this on there but I am honestly so happy for her that I wanted to share this news. My daughter works at Mcdonalds. Before that she was at Dominos. They are both kinda tough jobs and mean late nights for her many days. So a friend of hers works at CVS (a drug store in case you dont have one near you) and they were looking for a new pharmacy tech. So my daughter applied for the job and after a background check, drug testing and two interviews she got the job! The company pays for her to take the classes and she pays for certification. This means no more fast food and hopefully fewer rude customers. I am also hoping itll be the push she needs to go back to school to get a degree. We shall see on that part though but she told me there are incentives in the company to further your education. She started this process before my husband was in the accident and we were all really hoping it would turn out for her!!

Yay! That's so great for her. I know she's really struggled with her other jobs sometimes (through no fault of her own). How lovely to have some good news for your family right now.

yes she also got offered the job back at dominos with a raise but she really wants right now to get out of fast food of any kind. I am just so proud of her right now and so happy for her. When she told my husband today he actually smiled. First time I have seen him smile in the last two weeks.

Yes Juli....she has been out of school for a year now and was looking into going back to be a nurse. She was almost enrolled but just did not think she could do two jobs (she was working at dominos and mcdonalds at the time) and school.

Awesome! My family was in the grocery business as I grew up. All the stores had a pharmacy in them. A pharmacy tech is always gonna have a job and it pays well. Maybe CVS is one of those companies that will repay her for college?

yes I think they offer some type of incentive for her to go back to school. I am not sure what that is. She said the guy who interviewed her told her that. So I will defenitely be encouraging her to look into that when she starts working there

That is so awesome. You know, there are pharmacy tech jobs in all cities and there are jobs available for all shifts. This is a great career opportunity for her! So happy for her!

I have been checking your blog every day to see how you are doing. Congrats to your daughter! Glad to hear there is some more good news! Coincidentally, I work for CVS too -- in the Scottsdale business office. I know the pharmacies can be kinda crazy at times (like all retail, I guess) but it's a good company to work for.

the main store my daughter will be working at is in Port St Johns I think which is not a huge city. Kinda a small town really so I dont think itll be like working at one in Orlando (or another larger city). She can fill in at any CVS which needs a person to work though which is good. The only worry I had really was them getting robbed for narcotics cause it seems to happen often in Florida but the robberies have slowed down somewhat in recent months as well. Im just glad she would be getting out of Mcdonalds. Its not a bad company to work for but people seem to think because you work at Mcdonalds you are stupid or lazy or dont deserve respect. She has called me more then once in tears because of something a customer said to her. The good thing is she is so sweet so many customers rave to the manager about how nice she is to them no matter when they come through. So she gets lots of praise and good interaction with customers to counter-act the bad stuff people seem to think is ok to say.

yes I suppose that is true. I have really analyzed the things I say when interacting with people who work in customer service jobs no matter where they are. I was never outright mean with people but I know I was not always as nice as I could have been. That changed because I realized that Id want people to treat her that way so I try to be extra nice now
