Default WLM--There's gotta be an easier way to add folks

Can I import my yim contacts? Cuz I JUST added folks to my YIM list, and I do not want to go through and add EVERYbody again to my Windows live account. This is really getting old!

Can anybody help?

Add an entire list of contacts at once. If you have a lot of Yahoo contacts saved all in one place, you can import them to MSN Messenger in a single batch. Go to "Contacts," then click on "Import Instant Messaging Contacts." You will then select the appropriate folder that contains your contacts and click "Open." All of your Yahoo contacts will be transferred to your MSN Messenger account at once.

now..I can't find my yahoo contacts saved though?

Yes, Meg. While you're homeschooling, nursing, Challenge Tracking, cooking, cleaning AND scrapbooking, could you please figure out how to save my yahoo contacts so I can import them into my Windows Live Messenger account?

Thanks. I'll be expecting your answer when I wake up in the morning.

haha Kellie

I found this...but yet again I can't get it to work :-P

HOWTO: Yahoo Contact Bulk Import to Windows Live Messenger (WLM)
This is a brief explanation on how to do a bulk import of Yahoo IM contacts
into Windows Live Messenger without installing Yahoo IM.

Step 1) Open WLM and in the "Contacts" menu, select "Save Instant Messaging
Contacts..." and choose a location to save the file. The file generated
will be a CTT file.

Step 2) Remove everything between the "<contactlist>" tag and the
"</contactlist>" tag and save the file as "Yahoo.ctt".

Step 3) Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and at the bottom of the page,
click "Launch Web Messenger" (be sure to temporarily disable your pop-up
blocker).

Step 4) After signing in, you will have a list of all of your Yahoo IM
contacts. Tile the Yahoo IM window and Yahoo.ctt editor vertically so you
can edit the ctt file while looking at the names in your contact list.

Step 5) Edit the Yahoo.ctt file so that between the "<contactlist>" tag and
the "</contactlist>" tag, you have a line like this where {contact_name} is
replaced with each contacts Yahoo ID:

<contact type="32">{contact_name}@yahoo.com</contact>

Make sure you have a line like the one above for each contact you wish to
import, then save the ctt file.

Step 6) In Windows Live Messenger, find the "Contacts" menu and select
"Import Instant Messaging Contacts...". Provide it with the location of the
Yahoo.ctt file you just created and your contacts will be imported.

why don't we all just stick to Yahoo since it's easy to share screenshots with it

I think they are great with Yahoo! Just maximize the screen (like you would in Hello) and have you chat window smaller along the side (like in Hello).

Of COURSE WLM isn't intuitive - it's created by Microsoft!

I'm sticking with Yahoo. I just blow up my screen and then adjust the size of my chat window (so it's like Hello was) and it works just fine.

Do you see an arrow next to "share photos"? You should be able to click on that arrow and then choose "send from clipboard".

If you really can't make it work, try using The Jing Project for doing screenshots - I use it for some of my friends that still refuse to use the right version of Yahoo (ahem. Kristin), and it's only about 3 clicks to send a screenshot (to anyone, not just Yahoo...you can put the link in an email, forum post, whatever).

The right version of yahoo still doesn't work on a mac, i still can't accept files or do screenshots so thats why I use adium, it has good tabbed windows and its a bit more userfriendly on the mac
