KCB is changing things up and needs your help!
My team and I are thinking about moving away from having a blog and were wondering what would be the preference for gallery standouts from my team?
We have been doing a wednesday gallery standout on the blog for awhile now and it is our favourite feature because it is so nice to highlight the work done with my products. Without the blog though we would have to figure out something different. Two places that my blog team have suggested are facebook and pinterest. I also posted this question on facebook to see what the response was like there but would like any opinions so posting here too <3 |

I vote for keeping the blog. I'm on FB and Pinterest, but I don't check them very often so I miss a lot. I have tons of blogs in a reader and I'm able to read everything that interests me from all of them without missing anything. Of course, having a blog on top of everything else is a lot more work. Maybe you could make a post here in the forum reminding us to go check out your GSO when you post it wherever you decide to post it

I like the idea of both, but I like Pinterest so I can repin too and if you are worried about somebody being concerned about having a LO publicly posted, maybe ask them in advance
ETA: I don't read blogs either Last edited by nun69; 08-12-2012 at 08:54 PM. |

I'm going against the grain and gonna vote Facebook.
I wish I could keep up with blogs, but I just can't. I cleaned up my reader yesterday...I have 389 unread blog posts. |

I don't read blogs much, unless FB directs me to a post that looks interesting. I'm not a bit Pinterest fan anymore, and I know several people who don't want their layouts there. So I'll go with FB.

I have no idea! I rarely read blogs anymore because it was too time consuming. But I also think that it would be better to get people's permission ahead of time before posting their layouts to either Pinterest or FB, especially Pinterest.
Personally, I try to keep my online/scrapping persona and my real identity separate to protect my kids. Since FB uses my real identity, I don't share my layouts there or become a fan of anything scrapelated. Before someone posted my LOs there, I'd want to know (though I'd probably be okay with it as long as they only credited me by my gallery username). I don't have the same reservation with Pinterest because I only use my scrapping identity there.

anyone can pin anything in a gallery to Pinterest, I would think if you didn't want your LO on pinterest you wouldn't put it in a gallery.

I say facebook. I don't like having scrappy stuff on Pinterest (aside from the challenges here). I find myself unfollowing all of the scrapbook stuff that I end up seeing. I dig it on facebook, I check all sorts of designer's facebook pages, etc. but on pinterest it just makes me crazy. I had followed Traci's pinterest board and then unfollowed shortly thereafter because it was just too much for me. I had to scroll through a zillion scrapbook pins in order to see the pins I was really interested in. I thought about having a separate Pinterest account just for scrappy stuff but I doubt I'd really use it.
Personally, I like blogs the best. |

I vote for keeping the blog and post on blog updates on FB. :-)
Not everybody has FB or Pinterest (but there are more people on FB I think) and not everybody is happy to share their stuff on those platforms. HOWEVER, as Angela suggested on FB and some people suggested in the above posts - asking the scrapper before sharing would solve that, so I guess it's fine either way! Good luck with the decision! :-) ETA: As for the "if you put in the gallery it means you agree with sharing" - I think that's questionable. SSD is a "specialised" community where only people interested in digital scrapbooking go and look at the LOs. Facebook is full of strange people, so is Pinterest. Of course if someone wants to pin/share what I did without asking, there's not much I can do about it - and that risk existed before sharing became as easy as it today, and of course anybody who posts online has to be aware of that! But I somehow rely on people's good will in this matter. As for me, I truly always ask before I share if it involves personal photos/journalling - but maybe that's just me.

I'm with Ms. Reed. If we post our layouts in a public gallery, I don't feel like anyone needs to ask permission to repost it, as long as they credit us. I think either forum works; why not do both? It's not that much trouble, I wouldn't think, and then you hit the folks that only do one or the other.

I didn't mean to imply that everything's a free-for-all, deal with it. However, I see people pinning layouts ALL.THE.TIME. on pinterest for inspiration. Ergo, if you don't want your stuff on pinterest, you have to keep it out of the public forum, kwim?

I still think permission to share doesn't come automatically, but I also admit this is only my personal, i.e. very subjective point of view and I totally get (and respect) that people see this differently.

Right now, I keep up with scrapping stuff on facebook using flipboard on my ipad. It is too easy to get sucked into a "pinterest time warp" and lose half the day, so I very seldom check pinterest, and I definitely don't follow any scrapping pinboards at this time. There's too much information overload. However, I frequently read blog posts that are linked through facebook. In the future, I might use pinterest more, but not now.

Whatever you end up choosing, maybe you could always give us a heads-up here when someone is featured? This way also people who don't have Pinterest or FB (and also people who have accounts on one or both but don't check their accounts often) would know, and everybody would be pleased. :-)

I will agree that a heads up is nice but know if I choose to share a layout in any of my galleries, it could end up anywhere on the web. Blogs were always nice because they were a little more private and less difficult to navigate. I'm still trying to find a GSO from earlier this week. I wouldn't have even known about it if someone hadn't mentioned it in my comments. Best of luck making your decision!
