Default slumdog?

Yes, I actually do live under a rock. : ) Well, practically anyway. The only tv I watch is commercial free preschool stuff and the occational program we've pvr'ed - and we skip the commercials! So I don't know what movies are out there.
It's my birthday friday and DH and I want to go see a movie.
Is slumdog millionaire a good pick? We haven't seen a movie in theatre in over three years so I would hate to be really disapointed. We love action/superhero/romance/comedy movies - but nothing sad.

I haven't seen the movie but I've heard it's a must see really good and I didnt' ask for alot of details but I don't like to have anything given away.
Sorry if that didn't help.

It's an awesome movie. It's sad in some parts because of the life of the boys and what happens to them, but the game show is really a minor part of what the movie is about. It's the catalyst to tell the story of the lives of children in India - but it's not done so that you feel guilty for having bread on the table everyday, if that makes sense. It's got a lot of heart-felt humor, some violence, some tug at your heartstrings sadness, etc.

It's an a-typical Oscar winner, and REALLY worth seeing!

It's a FAB Movie...It's already out on DVD here though...might not be in theaters still?

I want to see Duplicity (Julia Roberts and Clive Owen), I heard I love You, Man is a good date movie too. I really wanna see Sunshine Cleaning but it's only select theaters so might have to check first to see if its playing there (has Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin)

I've heard it's really good (we have it in our Netflix queue but it's "very long wait" already), but since it did just come out on DVD I doubt you'll find it in a theatre anywhere now.

I want to see Fast & the Furious 4 (mmm Paul Walker & Vin Diesel are back!), I Love You Man, Adventureland, and Observe and Report (which comes out next weekend). Hubby also wants to see Watchmen and The Haunting in Connecticut.

it is in one of our theaters still, the big one we'd be going to.
Any other movie recommendations?

Slumdog is still playing here as well - even in full price theaters. Even Grand Turino is still here in a few places.

The only other one that is out that either of us really want to see is Taken, just don't know if it's any good LOL

DH and my BIL went to see Watchmen, they said it was SO stupid and beware that there is at least one time where you see a male body part that is painted blue. They weren't very impressed at all.

I JUST watched it last night and thought it was great! I think the storyline was great and definitely deserved the awards it won.
