Bingo with the Babes: February 2nd

#7 Black & white photos.
  When it came to colour co-ordinating four kids for an ice skating afternoon, I definitely lost the battle. Of course they wore every clashing colour you can imagine (scrapper's nightmare). I knew I wanted to use Erica's new snow kit, but the photo colours were too strong, so I made them black and white. I was really please how it all turned out. I think I actually like the photos a whole lot better this way. I should use B&W photos on my pages more often.

#24 - Pink.
 My daughter used to wear pink ALL the time, but at 8 years old, now wears pretty much any colour BUT pink. In these photos she's actually wearing purple jammies, so I recoloured the photos so they would work with La's new kit. I chose a softer white background and just accented with pink all over, to keep it light and airy. I really like the end result.

I'm on a roll. Haha! Did this one for #11 Typewriter fonts only.
 This was a no brainer, because the font in the kit (on the journal cards) was already a typewriter font, so matching my journalling to it was easy and helped the layout feel more cohesive.

#1 - Adore
 I've had these photos sitting on my hard drive for a few months now, and when I read the challenge prompt I knew immediately that I would use them. My niece adores her little brother and dotes on him constantly. All the older siblings do actually, and it's a lovely thing to see. I used Kristin's To the Moon and Back which was perfect for these two.

Trying to get as many done as I can before school (and work) starts back on Feb 2nd.
#12 - "Beauty is..."  I've always tried to instill with my girls, the understanding that beauty from within is more important than outward beauty. This challenge gave me the opportunity to tell her that I recognise the beauty in her, and that I love the person she is. My hope is that in her teenage years when she's not listening to me, that she will still read back through her photo albums and take these words into her heart.

Over the years, my scrapbook style has evolved. I have gotten to the point where nearly every one of my pages has certain things on it. I rarely do a page without some type of paint on it, so I knew the splat, splash, sprinkle, blob challenge would be perfect for me. I love adding these things as the little finishing touches on my layouts.

I am a huge fan of layouts with lots of white space. I love how scrappers can tell you a whole story using minimal space on a page. That's talent!

For the Typewriter fonts only challenge:
 I am addicted to typewriter fonts, like this one - CK True Type. I think they give a vintage look but are still really readable. I generally use a larger font size (around 12-14 pt depending on the font) because my vision isn't getting any better as I get older...  I want to enjoy my pages many years from now!

 I am a fan of white space, but it is a challenge for me! I love the clean look and how everything focuses on the picture/story that is being told.

#4 Multiple Talk Bubbles.
 I love the look of talk bubbles! I thought this little conversation I had with my 4 year old one day after school was perfect for this challenge! He amazes me every day with our conversations and I am so thankful I could document this one!

The last few years I've made a point to scrap some of my favorite reads of the year. The " I < 3 " challenge provided the perfect kick in the pants for me to get my 2014 list together.

I decided to do the scrap therapy challenge. I don't usually do these kinds of pages, but that's exactly what challenges are for, right? I used Meghan's kit, Made of Flaws, to scrap about my perfectionist issues. It was a good opportunity to spend some time thinking about this character trait that affects to many areas of my life. Here's the resulting layout:

Got some great new inspiration for some of the challenges I could not figure out, you are awesome!! I am a week off work so trying to get as many as I can done. This is what I did this week:
