Default A story done on me on the news

This is my local newscast doing a story on us.

Things have been awful here. My son got 15 stitches and after the news left we took him for a wound check and they sent us to the er because it was infected. They reopened it and drained and irrigated it and then scraped the dead tissue away.

my poor sweet boy.

Today is day 12 of no power.

Oh Alisa I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I know our utility company sent crews to help and some were turned away because they said they had all the help they needed. But I still believe it was because our utility company is not with the union. They tried to sugarcoat it and now I see our crews were needed more than ever! I wish I could at least send you some heat. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hugs Alisa - I wish that things get better quickly for you! My relatives on Long Island finally got their power on late last night, so I hope it won't be much longer for you! And hugs to your son too!

Your poor little guy. How awful! I continue to pray that everyone has restored power soon and warm, dry places to stay. It just breaks my heart to see what is going on in that area.

Tuesday?! That must feel like a million miles away, I can only begin to imagine how you feel, not being in your own home with your stuff around you, living normally with your family and scrapping, I really hope you get to go home soon, it will be like Christmas has come early!

I have elderly neighbors who are refusing to go anywhere. We are checking on them as we can. It's freezing and I'm scared they'll get robbed.

After the ice storm in 09' - it took over three weeks for some of my friends to get power back. Hope your power comes online a lot sooner than that!

They're in Hewlett. They are fortunate that they have a couple fireplaces so they stayed put (and their child is away at college, so no young ones), but they were glad to finally have it back last night! I'll keep sending positive vibes! Oh, and she said it was thanks to Hydro Quebec that they got power - not sure what that is about.

Holy something! Unbelievable, you must be seriously hacked off. I'm thankful we don't have hurricanes over here, I'd be terrified because of the damage I've seen on the news, it's heart-wrenching and so sad. I really hope you can go home soon, it must feel like your life is on hold.

Oh no! I hope your travel plans can be redone! This has got to be miserable! I've been praying for you guys! I'm glad you at least have a warm place to stay in the meanwhile. Last year we lost power for 3 days and it was down to 55, I can't even imagine a 43 degree house!

Oh, and Traci is so right! You and your family are adorable! And no worries about the hair...have you read the Curly Girl book? Call it a halo! DH likes to play with mine.

That's terrible! I'm so sorry you and your family are still living in limbo. I hope your little guy wasn't too traumatized by his experience in the ER and that his lip heals quickly. Sending lots of positive thoughts that they get your power back on ASAP and you can go back home.

I noticed the reporter said that she was reporting from East Meadow. Is that where you live or your parents? My grandparents lived there (on Luddington Road) for more than 50 years until they moved into a nursing home about 2 years ago. It's hard to picture that neighborhood so devastated.

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. I hope your son's lip heals cleanly and quickly, poor kid. Having a swollen, painful lip is no fun. I know YOU think you looked like a mess but you and your family are looking fine (if frazzled by the situation). I hope you do get power back before Thanksgiving, esp with those temperatures happening.

The worst natural disaster I ever experienced was the Blizzard of '78; we were without power for about a week back then. That's nothing compared to what you're experiencing. Stay warm as you can.

this is awful. The longest we went without power in 2004 was 2 weeks I think?? It was August in Florida so it was pretty awful but we had plenty of gas and could go for a ride to cool off. It must be even harder from what I have been told about the gas situation up there and the fact you have snow too? I know the power company told us the power is restored in a priority basis meaning that places like hospitals are restored before homes...but still it is frustrating waiting and freezing with no answers Im sure. I hope by the time I replied to this you have your power back on at least
