Help me plan this surprise!!
Ok girls, I need some help! Here's the story (it's a little long... sorry):
Some of you may remember that at Christmas, we gave my oldest daughter tickets to the Taylor Swift concert. I came to you guys for help on how to present them to her. We ended up completely surprising her and catching her reaction on video. We put it up on YouTube here. Well, we're now 3 weeks away from the show, and I've got some BIG news. I've known for a couple of months, but I've been keeping it quiet. That crazy video has managed to get almost 16,000 views! Guess who some of the views are from? Yep! Taylor Swift's people! We've been talking to them (both via email and on the phone... it's completely legit). They loved the video and want to upgrade our tickets to pit passes as well as a backstage meet & greet with Taylor and her mom before the show!!!!!!!! Let me just stop right here and tell you that Kendra (Gracie) will DIE when she finds out. I don't want to tell her until we get there. She's been OBSESSED with getting ready for this show. it's all she's been talking about. She's got her outfit picked out, made a sign, has plenty of "glow" jewelry... all in hopes of getting noticed for a "Club Red" pass (special after-party that they choose fans to attend after each show). So, when she finds out that she gets a personal meet & greet... she will seriously FLIP OUT. So, here's where I need your help... The passes won't be available until 5:30 the day of the concert. I had hoped that they'd be there earlier in the day so that I could go pick them up. But as it is, I'll have to take her with me to get them (it's at the arena at the Will Call window). So, I need to come up with some excuse that I can give her as to why we need to go straight to the Will Call window instead of to the main doors. I just don't want her to figure it out early because I want to video her reaction.  She's savvy, so it's gotta be a good one! My ONLY thought that I've had is that she has specifically asked if we can get there early to try to get noticed before the concert (again, that's something big in the TS shows... they always scout out the huge fans before and during the show)). So, I could try to use that info somehow to come up with a reason that we need to go to the window... Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts?

I also wanted to add that if it came down to it, I guess I wouldn't be opposed to telling her that I was going to inquire about purchasing pit passes... She'd think THAT was cool in itself... But I'd still rather have something else...

OMG! I dont know how to help you, but that is AMAZING!!!! you HAVE to make another video about her reaction (I watched the first one when you posted before) because now I'm curious to know how things will be! What great thing to a young girl! You are a SUPER mom, Libby!

Ok, so... honestly, I don't think she will even notice or question why you are going to the will-call window. I would probably have her stand or sit nearby and pretend like you have to ask a question about the tickets... like pretend you were contacted to turn in your tickets for a replacement because of a typo or some screw-up on the tickets you were issued? I don't know. All I know is that she is probably going to be far too excited and distracted by other things to even question why.

Something along the lines of asking about pit passes...what about just saying "Wait here and I'm going to go see if anyone at the ticket booth can give me the inside scoop on how I can get you noticed?".
I can't wait to see this video!

Stop at will call to scout where the best place to be to get noticed, definitely. Ask her to do a little scouting of her own while you're at the window to make better use of the time!

You can also say you heard from a friend (or read online) that it's a good idea to check at will-call for ideas for getting noticed. However, if the will-call line is long, that doesn't make as much sense. If it is, I would say you are checking for possibly closer seats that people canceled or something.
SO EXCITING!! Can't wait to hear all about it and see the videos!

My first thought was that parking is so crazy around the arena that maybe you could act like you aren't sure where to park so you're going to go early and get the parking place and then you can eat somewhere in walking distance. Then when you get there act like you're not sure if it was OK to park where you did and then tell her you're going to ask at the will call booth about parking and places to eat nearby. Would she buy that?
How very cool for you guys Libby! My daughters are going to see Taylor but in KC because by the time my mom decided to take them, the tickets available were better in KC than here in Wichita (and my mom lives closer to KC).

Thanks guys! I'm absolutely giddy. I think I'm as excited as she is but it just because I know what's in store for her.
I love the suggestion of telling her that someone told me to ask at the Will Call window for tips. She would TOTALLY buy that. I can even go have her stand in line at the door to "save our spot" and tell her that I'm gonna go ask for tips. The parking thing wouldn't work ONLY because I've already paid for parking in the lot directly across from the arena, and she already knows that. EEEEEE! This is gonna be so fun. I also scheduled us appointments at the MAC counter to get makeup done before the show. Total mom/daughter day, and I can't wait!

Has she been to a concert before? I don't think she will even question you going to Will Call at all. I'd just say I need to go talk to them, wait here and go. Also, how cool is that! Dream concert for her, I am sure.

Yeah, we just saw Carrie Underwood in this same arena back in october, so I think she would know something was up if I told her I had to go to the window since I didn't have to before.
I'm probably WAY over-thinking it. I just want it to be perfect for her.

eeeek! That is SO exciting!!
Okay, how about if you went to will call (beforehand) and dropped off an item like Taylor's cat ears (available here) and told her you bought her something in advance so she could wear it for the concert and you had to pick it up at will call. They'd give you the ears and the passes and she'd probably just be thrilled with the ears and not even think about the "receipt" you also got.

You got a few great suggestions, since you are a designer go with one of my digi girls told me to check at will call about the best places to get noticed... and umm..I third the smelling salts! lol
