Default It's April 1st...what does April have in store for you?

It's the first of the month and time to wipe the slate clean (at least for myself) of March. So I'm wondering what are you looking forward to happening in April???

I'm looking forward to:
Getting back to family activity Sundays versus sitting on the couch with computers in our laps.
My youngest starting a girls only basketball skills class.
My oldest starting a new 9 weeks at school, which will hopefully be a turn around for her grades.
Doing some yard work and planting some flowers.
Wedding showers, a visit to Disney and I hope a little more sunshine in my life.

Oh Trish - registering kids for school for the first time is so tough!!! My oldest is off to high school in the Fall and my youngest is off to Middle School. I wish I was just sending them to Pre-K...the time goes so fast!!!

I have my long awaited George Strait concert on Friday! Yay.

I've got a couple of photoshoots scheduled, one prom that I'm taking pictures of, plus my normal full time job. I will probably spend most of April working. Blah.

Uuuum...taxes? LOL It'll be a month of rushing and running for me as I get papers and stuff ready for a trip we're taking first week of May: so we're renewing passports, and for me, I'm applying for new government IDs, fixing other boring papers, etc etc.

It's a quiet month here... thank goodness! So, have to get back on routine for schooling... it was such a busy Feb/Mar with field trips and birthday planning... now it's just nice to relax and breathe.

I need to get planning for summer and start signing up for day camps, etc... also looking at a vacation in August to Seattle area... so need to plan that (update my passport to get into Canada - and because I never did update it after I got married - 8 years ago... haha)... and also have to look at what curriculum for school next year... and also want to see what money is let over in budget to see if we can remodel the bedroom... it seriously needs paint - I'm sick of beige walls...

April is a busy month for me always.

My oldest son will turn 10 this month.
My next son turns 8 just 10 days later.
We have soccer in full swing - although it's only for 1 of the boys this season.
I will start maternity leave as of the 23rd.
Last full month of preschool for my 4yo.

I want to add swim classes for my boys but need to look at the dates of that and hopefully get them signed up quick.

No clue yet what we're doing for the boys' birthdays, but thankfully not a big party (or two) like we've done other years. We've talked about doing something as a family, and possibly starting a new tradition of getting something bigger for them that they've wanted like Lego Sets, DS, etc. and just doing a small cake with our immediate family.

April for us brings:
*Spring!!! I can finally see grass in my yard instead of all snow
*Softball season for Cheyanne starts later this week. Looking forward to watching games outside instead of inside (basketball season).
* School break week starting next Friday.
* Overnight mother/daughter shopping trip with good friends of ours.
* Planning our gardens
* Finishing up the planning for our big trip this summer! (Finish making reservations and booking raft rides and horseback riding, etc.)

Just this week:

Monday - Fancy dinner tonight with the mayor of Tempe because DS2 was selected as a 2013 Tempe Top Teen
Tuesday - DS1 turns TWENTY-ONE!!
Wednesday - DS2 goes for college orientation at ASU.
Thursday - DS2 has a big track meet at ASU.

Whew!

Then more track meets, more college stuff, and DS1 completes his junior year of college at the end of April.

Now May is going to be downright scary.

I'm looking forward to my sister and her boys coming over from Australia for the school holidays. They'll be here for 2 weeks, though I'll only see her for a few days of that.

Today the kids went back to school and DH and I closed on refinancing our mortgage. We'll be saving lots by paying it off 2 years earlier and will be done just around the time my youngest starts college.

DS2's birthday party and a visit from my parents that weekend
A trip to NY for my brother's engagement party
Warmer weather and more chances to get outside

Hmm. Raegan turns 4 next week. Sean starts soccer next week. Other than that, it's a pretty normal month for us. I am definitely looking forward to warmer weather and working in the yard a bit - gotta get those rose bushes trimmed up, put some fresh bark in the flower beds, and get a few new trees planted.

April for me - working on photography with my local professional photog friend. I will be having a garage sale that I need to start working on or it will never happen. (I hate garage sales but I have tons of crap. LOL And I want $$$ to buy new lens for camera). I will also be planning my summer vaca options and starting to plan a disney world vaca for next year!

Finishing the Elementary yearbook
Taxes - keep forgetting
IEP meeting for my girl (she's in the gifted program, this is just the yearly formality)
Dental appointment
PTO meeting
Site Council meeting

April is looking pretty slow on my calendar. However, I will be busy. I am transitioning into a new position at work next year (school year that is) and I will be training for it between now and when school gets out in May. I usually just work half days and get out of there by 11:30 but I'm going to have a lot more full days over the next two months. That will keep me busy as I am used to running errands and doing all the misc. stuff when I'm home in the afternoon before I get my kids from school.

May will be crazy. May is always hectic for us... half birthday for Declan (yup, we celebrate halves!), our 15th anniversary, Mother's Day and then Sean's birthday all within a week, not to mention all of the school stuff we have going on in May!

OMG- you are so right that 5 is that age where you don't think of them as little any longer. Happy Birthday to little Miss M. Laura - you should just have one more. *now I duck and run*

well if the rest of Aril starts like mine did today...I jsut want to pass it by ALL TOGETHER
My oldest DD (Almost 20) posted on FB that she was engaged and I got an email from DH this morning stating "ummmm did you know YOUR daughter was engaged?"....umm hello...she is yours too it wouldn't have been so believeable if a few of her friends hadn't actually COMMENTED on said status...not a good way to give your mom or grandparents or dad a heart attack...her BF actually called her last night after midnight to see if it was true....she texted me early and said "Mom, duh do you not know what day it is"....and I texted her back and said it wasn't funny!!!
then my sister texted me at 6 pm to let me know her mom died (she was adopted even though we have the same biological mom, but I have known her for 20 years now) and she is in VA so I can't give her a big old hug

but the rest of the month entails:
IEP signing (initial) for Peyton
Sam's 20th bday on the 16th
a wedding on the 27th
and booking my rental for a week long vacation to Anaheim (which of coarse includes Disneyland tickets)
My kids just started spring break so they are out until next Monday

Not sure if I am looking forward to it... but...tomorrow we are going to get the paperwork to register my little lady for Kindergarten. I am making myself go ahead and do it because if I wait...it will be last minute. I realllyyyy am having anxiety about her going to school. I was okay with daycare eventually...but school idk...

I am going to start planning her birthday trip. It's in May but I usually have everything reserved and paid for in February...so I have got to get on that. Other than that...April will be pretty quiet and boring.

Surely it will be warmer! We had one of the coldest Marchs on record here in Indy, and I am so over it!! Bike rides, trips to the park, being outside in the sunshine before it gets godawfully hot like it has the past 2 summers...

We'll finish up parent + child swim lessons in a couple weeks. I'll be glad for the excuse to not have to wear a bathing suit in public once a week. Ha ha.

Let's see... otherwise, I'm getting my hair done (maybe I shall get bangs for the first time since 5th grade?!) later this month and celebrating my nephew's birthday right before May starts.

I wish I had some of the happy things in store that I've been reading....

Meeting with a lawyer tomorrow afternoon to find out what I need to do before I file for divorce.... scared to do it, but I need to stop dragging my feet and get it done. Please send positive thoughts my way.... thanks!
On a positive note, after 4 more workdays, I'll have a week of vacation.
