Default i'm asking here because...

you sweet shoppe ladies are so smart - i'm sure one of you has the answer.

i have photoshop cs6 - sometimes when i drag a png file from a folder directly onto my layout it comes in really small when i try to make it bigger it gets pixelated. when i use file-open or right click open in... it comes in full size.

this is just a cropped 12x12 canvas...

what is happening? i tried researching and i can't find the reason why.

Check the element's DPI. Is it 300?

no it's 1524! and the size is 1.5 inches by .1 inches. So it must be taking it in at that size. I think that's the answer.

Another thing that MIGHT be happening (IDK for sure), but when you drag into CS6, are you dragging into the grey workspace or directly into the layout you're working on? I ask because I noticed last week I accidentally pulled one of my own things into another document ("placing" it as opposed to opening it), and I noticed that it automatically had the little resize handles on it. I just canceled and then pulled it into the workspace instead. So, idk if that has anything to do with your size issues or not?

Yes I dragged it right on but I do that a lot without any issue, I think it's the siznf issue. I think it's taking the element in at the size but resizing the pixels to 300 px

It's the DPI--totally. When you copy and paste, it will change the DPI to 300 for you. When you drag it over, it keeps the DPI, so it gets resized.

An easy fix: resize the document... But only change the DPI. Keep the size (1.5) the same, but change the DPI to 300. It won't really resize it, but it will now be 300 and you won't need worry about it again.
