Cs5 Trial... review and first impressions...?
Did you download the free trial of Cs5 on the adobe site!?
I did last night... I'm not sure yet to upgrade, BUT, since the trial is a 30 days full version of it, I thought to download it and give it a try. Haven't had the chance to play with it yet... Even if I have to say it is pretty faster than cs4, even on the same computer. Anyone is trying it yet?? If you find something cool post it here!! |

eheh... I know, I didn't wanna to download it too, at first, knowing it's not for sure we're doing to upgrade, but after seeing all of the video of it on youtube I couldn't resist...

I downloaded the trial as well. I have CS3 now. For scrapping, so far I haven't noticed anything different. I haven't tried any of the new features really though.
Since I can upgrade for $199, I probably will, since I skipped CS4.

I just got mine in the mail on Tuesday. I have only played with it a little but, know that I will love it as I am making a big jump from PSE 6 to CS5. I just have to learn how to use it now!

I'm hoping I can convince Jordan to let me get it sometime this year. His mom is a teacher so she can get it for me for $199.

How does it actually work with the Student & Teacher version? I have some friends that are students, and some that are teachers, I'm just not sure how it works. What exactly do they want to prove it?

They just need to see verification.

I can see the Student & Teachers edition costs as much as the CS4 upgrade, but it's always better to have a full version than just to have an upgrade, so I'll give it a thought.

OMG I'm in love! I sort all my photos and digi files in Bridge and now PS has built in Mini Bridge! This will make my workflow so much smoother and quicker.

is the student version the exact same thing only cheaper, or is it a lesser version of the software? I was thinking about doing the student version, but wasn't sure.

Ooh I've been waiting for the trial!
I'm going to download it at the weekend I think, not that I can afford to buy it once the trial is over, lol.

I am waiting on mine to ship (back ordered) before I get the trial. I would hate to get the trial and the 30 days run out or something and then not be able to use it!

I've been using it since Friday night and so far, I love it! I think I might weep when my trial is up, lol!
CS5 makes sheet alphas obsolete (IMO). Seriously! If you drag a file from explorer into an open doc in PS--it PLACES it automatically!! No more selecting, dragging, copying, pasting, NO MORE! And you can 'place' more than one file at a time (I did 19 at once last night--takes a bit of time, but it was sooooooo easy!!);so just pick all the letters you need and drag straight into the document. I ♥ that. And the original file name is in the layer palette that way--so awesome for listing credits. Whee!! (if you just want to open it in a separate document, just drag it to the side of an open doc.) I'm still playing around with it--but that's my favorite part so far, lol! |

I actually upgraded to CS5 and I loooooove it!! Seriously. For me it runs and loads everything so much quicker. I haven't played around with mini bridge yet...I did play around with the content aware tool. I do love it for removing small things from pictures, but I have to say that I'm not all that impressed with removing large objects or objects that are really close to another object/edge of photo. For all the hype that they stirred up about it, it's not as intuitive as I'd expect it to be. Although, all the demos we saw were PS experts and developers using this tool - I'm nowhere near as experienced as they are with this stuff so maybe it will take some serious practice. *shrugs*

I upgraded my whole package. I actually think that PS CS5 is a bit buggy. I have already posted two issues over in the Adobe forums (which were quickly solved). There are a few things that I love (puppet warp, content aware fill, better selections and edge refinement) and illustrator has some killer new features....so I don't regret upgrading....I just wish they had all the kinks worked out before they put it out there.

I've just had a look at the little movies on the adobe website of what it can do, and it looks great! I'll definatly be downloading the trail to have a look at and will probably upgrade from CS4. The HDR imaging will be great for combining exposures of photos for work, so I'm excited!
