Default Bug Repellent for Little Ones

What do you use to help keep the black flies, sweat bees, mosquito's from biting your little ones? My Grandson seems to be very prone to all of the above and his poor little head has several good sized "lumps" from getting bit....His Pediatrician was of no help when my Daughter called today....She said she had no solution, BUT if my daughter were that concerned she could bring him in....If she had no solution, then why would she want to see him?

he is older so I would just use a bug repellent. Just try it on a little section to see how he reacts. The risk of being bitten by a mosquito IMO outweighs the problems of a repellent

I know this is probably going to sound weird, but we have always used Avon's Skin-So-Soft. It is safe on their skin and works like a charm. I just went to their website and it looks like they have a whole bunch of different bug repellant type products. I have always just used the regular stuff, and haven't actually tried the ones they are showing specifically as a bug repellant.

Another Skin So Soft user, I've used it for like 25 year. Never had a bug bite me or my kids when we are wearing it!!!!

Another thing my mom and sister just told me about was bounce dryer sheets. stick one in your pocket and it suppose to keep all the bugs away!!!

My hubby swears by Skin So Soft too... I haven't had my girls out with bugs too much yet so I haven't used it.

WE use burt's bees bug repellent. It works really well, stays on pretty long and I actually think it smells really good. It has not harsh chemicals in it and does not contain deet. Here's a link to check it out:

I bought mine at whole foods. But I know there's not one anywhere near you So maybe target would carry it too, since I have seen their line of products before. Or maybe suttons or silo might(I've noticed they sometimes carry random things like that).

Thank you all so very much for your replies....I almost had forgotten about Skin so soft and definitely will be getting some....I love the smell--much better than actual bug spray....LOL

Emily, thanks for the info on Burt's Bee Bug Repellent....I will definitely check around just incase I ever need it....You'd think since I work for Target packing the stores orders that I'd be able to purchase directly from the Warehouse, but we can't.... Guess I should be happy I atleast get a discount....

Jessica, I can't remember where, but I did read that meat tenderizer helps control itching....Have never tried it, but will keep it in mind....

My mother sent me an email just this week on an article about spraying Listerine mouthwash around the area outside where the kids are playing, BBQ's, etc....
I haven't tried it yet, but I had a friend who mentioned that she uses it too.

As for me...skin-so-soft and rub fabric softner sheets all over them!!
