Default Weekend Plans?

I'm quite the chatty cathy lately.

What's everyone doing for the weekend? My car was recalled so I have to take it in to be repaired (blah) but my son is coming home from college for Spring Break (yay!).

You?

We are leaving for spring break. We are taking a road trip through New Mexico. bandelier national monument, El Capitan and Smokey the Bear park, Lincoln Co where Billy the Kid is buried, Cuervo NM (a ghost town), White Sands National Park, 3 rivers petroglyphs Saguaro National Park and finish up at Guadeloupe national Park on Thursday of next week.

I am excited...this is going to be our first trip as a family of 5! My son's girlfriend is going with us for the week. Now to get to packing because we leave before daylight tomorrow morning. Ahhhh!!! Baking, packing, organizing etc.

Sounds fun! we did a less ambitious trip to NM a few years ago -White Sands was our favorite. Definitely a cool experience!

We did Great Sand Dunes this past summer...we actually did 18 parks and monuments in 2 weeks last summer. My oldest isn't excited about White Sands...he crashed in the sand this summer and was COVERED. He doesn't like to get dirty at all....he isn't happy about more sand. LOL

I'm spending the weekend with my boyfriend but we're being super lowkey so besides running to the store and maybe taking a walk if it warms up Sunday, we're going to hole up at his place to cook and read and nap and relax.

Trying to keep warm and hoping we don't get much snow.

The keeping warm is a chore right now because there was a power outage in my neighborhood 2 hours ago. Power out a little over an hour and I have electric heat. Heat pump is working hard to get back to desired temp.

We have a hockey game Saturday (we billet 2 of our local WHL players & it's host family appreciation night- we get dinner, some gifts, pictures with our boys on the ice & spoiled for the night!) Otherwise, I'm at the end of a head cold so I'm laying low to recover from that & keeping an eye on our old doggy who's days are numbered... the last couple days she's really starting to decline.

It's quarter break for us, but Joel is on a retreat and the kids and I are stuck at home. : ( A friend invited us to go with them to the mountains, but I know I'll get push back from my kids if I say yes. The boys are just at that age where they resent having to leave the house. I don't think I was like that as a teenager; maybe it's from being in lockdown for the last two years.

Spring break isn't until early April for us, so it's just a normal weekend. We're waiting to see what the weather is like tomorrow. We were in the 60's today, and tomorrow they're forecasting snow as part of the bomb cyclone hitting the East Coast. We're only supposed to get a few inches, but that's enough to shut everything down in the DC area. We were going to go play mini-golf (my son's request), but it may have to be put off until Sunday. Fingers crossed we can find an indoor place and don't have to just wait until next weekend. Whichever day we're home I'll be doing homework.

Last night I was out with some moms and seniors for a fun night out...we met at Raising Cane's and then they split up into friend groups and some got frozen yogurt, Baskin Robbins, or went to a movie. The moms just sat and visited at Cane's. It was great!

Today is my grandson's birthday, so this evening we are headed over to their place for his party. I'm going to make him some cupcakes for tomorrow (everyone comes over to our house after church) as a small extended birthday happy. I'm hoping to get some scrapping done.

Sunday is church, family is at our house for lunch, and I need to do my nails. I do gel nails every two weeks - my guilty pleasure. My problem is I'm not sure what "look" I want right now. Not feeling very springy with the temps back down in the thirties...and everything was starting to leaf out and bloom too.

Last night hubby was out and my daughter was at a church youth group meeting, so I had the house to myself for a few hours. Woo hoo! It was all very exciting... I napped on the couch for an hour and the rest of the evening I watched Big Bang Theory.

Tonight I have my grandbaby and grandpuppy coming over for a sleepover, so that should be fun!

I'm being lazy... I should be cleaning/decluttering... but I'm not. haha. My son has protocol tonight - basically it's a "course" that the high school kids in his homeschool co-op get together, learn about proper etiquette then have a "fancy" dinner and then attend the symphony. Hubby is filling in for radio this afternoon - so for four hours or so I'm all by myself... what will I do?? haha

Tomorrow... church and then my son has symphony practice. I'm a parent volunteer and we are meeting at a different location as our current location is busy with their spring play performance. Next week Saturday is my son's concert... and we are done!! YAYA!

Friday night was hang-out time with our 2yo and 4mo granddaughters and their parents. We brought take-out to their house, had family dinner, and then sat in the living room for a couple hours and talked while I played and read books to the toddler and Grandpa got lots of snuggles from the baby. It was glorious!

Saturday is quiet around-the-house time. I've had another migraine all morning, but I'm up now so I'm hoping to spend the rest of the day sewing my turquoise and green bomber jacket I scrapbooked! My husband is popping in on various online Toastmasters evaluation contests for practice since he won his Area and is competing at Division - this is what happens when they let a World Champion of Public Speaking compete again... LOL! - and tonight we'll have dinner and watch a movie here at home.

Tomorrow, my stepson is delivering the message at church so I'm praying I'm migraine-free and able to attend. They rotate sermon responsibilities between a number of the pastors on staff so we're not always hearing from the same person... it's pretty cool.

And I'll probably spend part of the afternoon setting up the virtual Pampered Chef party I promised my daughter-in-law I'd host for her. She just signed up to be a demonstrator, in the hopes she can replace what she makes at her current part-time job and stay home with her girls full-time. I want to support her 1,000% and I love Pampered Chef products!! I'm just awful at feeling like I'm selling stuff to people and inviting them to things like this. Wish me luck...

I spent the weekend working on homework, mostly. Saturday night we went bowling. It was the first time I'd been in 2 years. It felt good to do something that seemed 'normal'. Then it was back home and back to homework. Today I had to go up to my job (elementary school) twice to use the internet there to work on homework. I had videos of me teaching lessons that I had to upload and it is a process. After two hours my video was 25% uploaded at home. I had two videos to upload and that was the first. It was 7pm. I knew there was no way I'd get both uploaded by midnight at that rate so I went to school for the 2nd time. The videos uploaded from there in less than a minute each! I came back home to finish up the reflection parts after getting them uploaded there. I turned them in with 15 minutes to spare. Go me! LOL

I am on spring break from work and university classes next week, so I will get some stuff done and hopefully have a little fun!

I spent my weekend attempting to chalk paint some old furniture. It's from my sons room. They were hand me downs and second hand store pieces. (Desk/hutch and large dresser) When its done, I'll do some polyacrylic to seal them.

We are turning our basement into a library/guest room and a crafting space. So we also moved shelving around and did lots of cleaning out. I can't wait to have a dedicated craft space. The desk/hutch and dresser will be used in the craft space.

This should be my first week-end getting some seeds planted ( I am SO excited that it is planting season! ). Kids are currently on their spring break now, so it'll be over by the time the week-end hits... we made no plans anyway, last week hubby and I were both down with covid and now my youngest is going through it. So this week is all about SPRING CLEANING for me, hopefully by the week-end I'll be up for doing something fun (but still at home).
