Default Photoshop CC vs Photoshop Elements

I recently switched to a Macbook Pro from a PC. Like a doofus, I didn't think about how my photoshop would not work on my Mac because it is a PC program. Grr.

So I have been using the free trial of PSCC while I contemplate how to proceed.

I was wondering which program you use and what you think about it.

In the past, my program of choice was PS7 (Wow! Dated, I know!).

Thanks for the help!

I use photoshop cc. I use the photography plan which is $10 bucks a month for photoshop and light room. Not bad.

I've been wondering about the Photoshop CC...can I load all of my actions and effects into it? I currently use PSE 11.

I was using PS to edit and scrap (C5) and then last yr switched to the cloud (PSCC). I'm happy with it. It updates automatically. The cost I think is a bit cheaper than upgrading every 3 yrs or so to the newest PS and LR version, which is what I was doing before.

I use Elements... mostly because I just want to scrap and not take the time to learn a new software... I tried CC and it was too clunky for me because I wasn't used to it. We had the cloud for a year when we got a reduced price for it... now that it's back up to the normal price... we can't justify the monthly cost for what we use it for (mainly hubby uses it for music editing for his dad's radio show and I edit PDFs for my son's homeschool science class)... I can find an alternative software for me, but hubby is having problems finding a replacement that is reasonably priced for music editing... so we might be stuck with the cloud.

ETA: we are play $31/mo for student/teacher... I see they have a special at $16/mo going on right now... will have to talk to hubby.

Ooooooh. We qualify for the student/teacher edition too, and that's the best price I've seen by far. Hubby has been dragging his feet on this one, but at that price, I can probably convince him.

I just asked Dave about this at lunch and he said that this is the rate for the first year... he didn't know that - that is why it jumped up to $30 a month this summer....

Yes - it's the rate for the first year only, and I also think it might be only for first-time subscribers, so I'm not sure that you guys could get it if you've had a subscription in the past.

I have the CC Photographer's Plan (with PS & LR) for $10/mo as well and love it, well worth the monthly cost.

I've been happy with PSE. Since I don't use it professionally, I just can't justify the price of the more expensive one. For me, PSE does everything I need!

This is probably a long shot, but are there any boxed copies of PSCS6 still available? If so, I'd buy one. I bought mine with an educational discount before CC came out, and I plan to use it until the point when it's not compatible with the OS of a future computer. At that point I don't know what I'll do--probably download a trial of PSE and make myself learn to like it. At the $10 or $16 monthly cost CC might be worth it to me, but I can't justify $30 a month. That works out to so much more than I used to spend buying new software every 3 years or so.

I use Photoshop Elements. It does what I need it to do. I downloaded the trial of Photoshop CC and found it was too much for me when I'm just a scrapper. So back to PSE I went.

I also have the photographers plan.

I had CS3, upgraded to CS5, which I really liked and did everything I needed, but, I lost my install disc, messed around too long to call adobe, by the time I did, they didn't have the replacement discs anymore.

CS3 wouldn't read the raw files from my Canon 7d, so I finally went with CC, and I love having the photographers plan, so worth it for $10 a month.

For those of you with the Photographer's Plan, is that a permanent price or a first year intro rate?

You might find something on ebay. I've bought used software that way before.

I've had the photographer's CC/LR for a while now. I remember the fine print saying it was $10 for the foreseeable future which I took to mean they had the option to raise the price at their option in the future.

This exactly for me too. I really have no need to use anything else.

This is exactly how I feel too.
