so this weekend I decided what I am going to use for my album .... My chipboard stash! I have 3 bracket albums .... so I am going to make them into one album. I am going to paint all my edges and probably just glue square pages on for each day & embellish. It will be easy to print out a page a day.

Here is a version for those who don't think they have time to get all the supplies together and assemble. Looks like a cute little kit!

WOOT WOOT!! So excited to see everyone getting started!!

Lucrecia I love that album, it'll be awesome for this project! Instead of buying acrylic pages (which can get expensive) try just using transparency sheets. Once you add a photo to it, it's pretty stable (according to Ali anyway, lol).

Trina, T made those numbers herself

Tonight I vow to pull out my christmas scrap stash, and get started sorting through stuff to see what I need (or just want, lol).

I got started on mine this weekend too! I found some really cute cut chipboard sheets at the Dollar General. Not the colors I need but I can paint or recolor. There were tags, strips and journalling blocks on it, a big 8 1/2x11 sheet. I **Need** some primas in christmas colors and ribbons too, I've never tried printing on transparencies, but I'm going to give it a shot!

Aggie that stuff is soo cute!!!

Checking out that thread now, thanks for linking us up!

I'm gonna start a fresh thread next week for ppl to post their projects in and such.

I went through my stash and have a LOT of the past 2 christmas collections by Basic Grey. So instead of waiting to find Wassail I'm gonna use what I have. I'm gonna order the album off scrapbook.com tonight probably.

I have been working on mine too! I have Chipboard for the covers (not sure how I am going to fix them up) and random pages for inside, some chipboard, some cardstock, some transparencies, and I stole Ali's idea of a BINGO card with one of Heather's...PERFECT!!

I am thinking I may buy a Bind It All to be able to make books like this...anyone have one and any opinions?

Love this Project!!

I got a Bind-it-All last year for Christmas & love it!! Definitely a tool worth it's cost, I think mine was about $60 @ my LSS, since none of the craft stores around here carry them.

One tip for your Christmas journal and if you get a BIA...bind it AFTER you have finished all your pages. Adding embellishments etc could make it more bulky than you think and you might pick a too narrow wire to use if you bind it just when you have your uncovered pages Hope that makes sense. That's what I did last year and I'm so glad I left the binding until the end as I needed a very wide wire.

You're very welcome They are also great for making photobooks for family and friends (think 6x4 photos glued back-to-back and a simple cardstock cover)

Ok I am really confused about this. I went to the first link and got even more confused.

In a nutshell...what is it? Is it a day by day happenings in December...or is it a collection of what Christmas is to your family (i.e. the traditions or maybe those personalized ornaments & stockings unique to each family member)... or is it just totally random?

So do you do all the layouts in November...and leave spaces for pictures taken in December so you just have to plop in there and print...or is everything being done now including printing so you can enjoy it in December?

Man I think I need another cup of coffee! lol Speak slowly until the caffeine kicks in please.

Thanks for the info.

I thought about dropping a hint to my mom about a Bind-it-All for me for Christmas...but I scrap out of order so much that I think it would only work for a few projects a year.

Can you give me a link that would explain all the sizes it can make...it's been a long time since I first looked at the details on it. Thanks

Hey Sharon

It's a daily log of sorts. You set up the album beforehand, so that come December you can enjoy the holiday to it's fullest while still creating a record of what went on during the holiday season.

For example, mine will be a hybrid album. I'm using my paper supplies to create the album before hand. Some of my pages in the album will simply be a photo that I print out that day. Others will be all paper that I will print and adhere a photo to. So I'm working on the album now so that when the holiday season rolls around, I can just journal about the day or something special that happened or how I feel or what I did (ANYTHING you want to journal about), print my photo, and call it done.

The bind it all does any size you need. You just punch the holes where you need them.

ETA: I just ordered my clearscraps album! I hope it gets here quick so I can get started

I have it on good authority that Ali should be releasing some layered templates for this project in the next couple weeks, so keep your eye out.

Sharon,
lots of girls here are planning full-out paper, hybrid or all digital albums. Some of them have daily ideas of what they will scrap about (weather, traditions, decoration, food, etc.) and some are just going to go with the flow and scrap about pictures taken that day.
I am doing an all digital album, probably with Jessica Sprauge's template (at the beginning of this thread there is a link) thought I haven't had a chance to set it all up yet. I'll pop in a few photos from that day, and a few sentences of journalling. Probably a few days will have an extra page of photos or journalling throughout the book too.
Hope this helps a little?

I like using mine to make mini chipboard coaster albums but there are tons of projects you can use it for.

Here's a link to the Bind-it-All website (I wouldn't order directly from them though, there are other online places who have it cheaper if you don't have an LSS nearby) & to their project/design team website which has tons of ideas for projects!

OK...I just can't go through all 13 pages of responses...but I've got my big girl panties on and I'M SO DOING THIS!!!!

I have my album (PageFrame 6x8.5 clear album). I picked up some of the new MM Falala line, plus some from Creative Imaginations. I also have some stuff from last(?) year by Reminisce (sp?). I got those number circles from EveryJotandTittle (an etsy seller). And tons of red Prima flowers LOL! I also have several digi Christmas kits that I might print papers from. So, this weekend I'm gonna start putting my plan together and maybe even get some of the pages started.

Thanks for putting this together, Col! It's such an awesome group of peeps to do this with

A few people in this thread have mentioned Shimelle's (I think that's her name?) Journal Your Christmas class. You pay once and then you get it every year after that. I think she sends out journaling prompts for each day.

I just signed up for this because so many people have recommended it. I like the fact that once you pay for it, you will always get it for every Christmas thereafter...pretty cool!

Yep Shimelle's class is excellent!

www.shimelle.com

She does Journal Your Christmas every year. You get prompts and sketches every day from Dec 1 to Jan 6 and there is a forum to chat about it and ask questions.

It might be nice, also, to start a thread where people share the different themes they come up with. There are always the usual baking, school events, weather, pets, church events, neighborhood events, shopping, etc., but my DS's birthday is December 15 (good grief, stupid parents ), so that day in my December album will document what we did that day FOR HIM. We always try to have his birthday as far away from Christmas as possible, to separate it for him a little bit, and the grandparents are usually pretty good about not combining it for him. It will be interesting to see some of the other ideas people come up with

Trina, next week I'm start a new thread for us. People can post questions, ideas, their pages they are working on, anything they want

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sign up for Journal Christmas. Even if I don't follow it exactly, I like the idea of it and we can always use new ideas

I like Ali's idea of getting everything set up a head of time because layout design was what really sucked up my time last year when doing Journal Your Christmas. The actual prompts were not too hard to follow, though I had to do some rearranging to fit events in our house. I'd know what photo I wanted to use and what to journal & then I'd sit there forever deciding what kit to use and how to lay it out.

I think that's what most people struggle with and get bogged down with Stacey. I know I would. That's why I really like this project idea. I hope you'll join us!

I have been avoiding this thread like the plague so I don't get sucked in to another project I will never complete but now I am thinking this would be really great for my niece since she is here everyday and has just turned two I think she will really enjoy Christmas. I would love to give this a shot and plan to...my only issue is do I go paper or digital, I have stashes of paper x-mas stuff (mostly past BG stuff) and a good stash of digital stuff too........

Give me that kick in the ass too Colleen, I need you more than ever now girl!!!!

You don't happen to live in Kansas City do you? I have lots of paper supplies that I just haven't used since I went digital...would be happy to share & have a buddy to help me get moving! lol

Actually I am thinking about talking to my boys about this...to see if they want to make a "Christmas Traditions" book and use up my paper supplies. Goodness knows I have a lot of digi Christmas kits too...last year I think it was I took a picture of ALL the Christmas ornaments that had "meaning" (or so we could label which one belongs to WHICH BOY...to avoid arguments when they move out lol)...so we could start with the pictures of the ornaments.

I **Need** some primas in christmas colors and ribbons too, I've never tried printing on transparencies, but I'm going to give it a shot!

Aggie that stuff is soo cute!!!
I've printed on transparencies...sometimes both sides are slick and sometimes one will have a bit of a rough texture to it (I printed on that side)...don't forget to check to see if you need to print a reverse image depending on which side you want up on your page. Also...check your printer settings and if they have a "transparency" choice to print on...choose that! Transparencies are FUN!

The printer I have NOW doesn't have that option...and I'm not sure what to choose on it...printed on a "shrinky dink" the other day choosing glossy paper and it plopped down way too much ink (even with reducing the brightness of the images). Suggestions???

After spending a week agonizing over what I was going to use for the album, I bit the bullet and went to my crappy Michael's.

I bought a MAMBI album, took out the posts, punched holes in it and added rings. For my pages, I cut cardstock 8 inches x 8, 8.25, 8.5, etc... creating a layered effect.

For my numbers I stamped the numbers, added pen detail, and adhered them to glitter snowflakes by MAMBI.

Ooh you hybrid/paste eaters are so ambitious!

I'm going all digital and going to do a shutterfly book like Aggie did! So I've got to decide on a template or design and gather my Christmas kits! I'm also going to start all the pages for Dec/Jan and get the numbers and rough prompts on them.

Should keep me busy this week! LOL
