Alpha Organization
I want to organize all of my alphas so I can use multiple on a page like this:
How do you do it? What tips do you have? Do you organize by color or style? Cindy - we need your tips too.....You are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Thanks in advance Kjersti

I don't have tips, but I need help with this too! At this point, they are all in their individual kit folders aside from alphas that were stand-alone purchases. I have one little folder for those. I'd love to have them all organized and easy to find to mix and match though.

I have a folder for my stand alone alphas, and the rest stay with their kits. I don't have anything sorted beyond that yet, but when I do, I will be tagging the preview with some keywords that will hopefully make searches go a little more smoothly. This is something I have been wanting to do also, get more creative with alpha use AND just use them more often in general.

I don't do anything with my alphas at the moment, but you could copy the capital A from your favourite kits and put it into one folder. Make sure each alpha is named with the kit name/location. Then when you open the folder, you have all these capital A's that you can immediately compare and choose from. You could subdivide into colours if you wanted.

I also have a folder for my stand alone alphas and the rest are with their kits.
I use Picasa and when I want to use different alphas all I have to do is type ALPHA in the search box and it brings up a pic of each alpha I have no matter if it's a stand alone or in a kit folder. Then I just scroll through and pick the ones I want to use. |

I keep them with their kits too + a folder for stand alone alphas. I don't use alphas that much, even though thay're awesome. It's just faster to use a font.

I keep them with the kit and tag either the alpha preview or each version ( color UC/LC ) of the letter A. It works really well for me as I like to mix alphas.

I keep them with the kit and tag letter A according to style and colour.

At one point I had an extra copy of all kit alphas in my alpha folder, but having things double take so much space, and I was running out so I deleted all duplicates.

I keep alphas with their kits, but I also have an alpha folder where I keep standalone alphas and the preview file that comes with most kit alphas. (If the kit doesn't have one, I do a screen shot of a few letters or crop a copy of the full kit preview so it focuses only on the alpha.) That makes it easy to scroll through and see everything together without taking up a ton of space duplicating. (But even with all that organization, I'll confess that I'm lazy about using alphas. I title with fonts at least as often as I do with alphas.)

Too bad we can't tag Cindy in this thread like we could if this was FB, right?!
She is the MASTER OF ALL THE SCRAP. I am too lazy to use alphas most of the time... even though they often are the tipping point as to whether I buy a kit or not. LOL! |

I tag mine in ACDsee by color.
And then I have a tag for small alphas and stamped alphas. |

I tag mine in photo gallery by color. I also have a couple special tags for art journaling type ones.

Mine all stay in their kits as well, and even stand alone sets stay in the designer folder. I used to tag all of them by color, but I so rarely searched by color that I stopped wasting time doing it. Now I just tag all of them as 'alphas' and do a search under that.

I've been wondering what to do with my alphas lately. I HATE scrolling through them when I'm looking at a kit in Lightroom. When I purchase a kit and find the alpha is all on one sheet I feel like I have hit the lottery. I've seriously thought about deleting all alphas that aren't on one sheet to save me the headache of putting each alpha set on one sheet but then it feels so wasteful. Can you tell this really makes my head hurt just thinking about it? Right now, I tag the alpha as an alphabet, tag numbers and punctuation. I also tag color and texture. Yes, I can find what I'm looking for this way but I don't enjoy it.
