Hello, everyone - I hope your week is wrapping up nicely and that you're headed into a weekend that will allow you lots of time to scrapbook!

We're gearing up to work on the tutorials section of our website. It's been a hot minute since we've updated it, and though most of the how-to's are still accurate, they're pictured using much older versions of software.

So that we can ensure we're spending time creating the content that's what you want and need, we'll be asking a few questions to get your feedback.

First question - what format do you like to see for tutorials? Written steps with screenshots, video walkthroughs with voice-over, or a combination of the two?

And when you're done, visit this poll here to tell us what software you're using to scrapbook: https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101230

I like both but I feel like screenshot walkthrough is time consuming for you all to create.

Videos are great but sometimes difficult to see what steps are done when it looks so small on the screen unless it's clearly stated what is happening.

I personally chose video with voiceover, but for those where English is not a first language, maybe the written tutorial would be better as translation software could be used.

I also chose video with VoiceOver making sure that the steps are performed slow enough for the viewer to follow.

I prefer written because I can print them out and work through things at my own speed.

With video, the having to stop and restart the video is sometimes confusing for me especially if I'm having a hard time understanding the voiceover. And, quite often the steps are shown so quickly that I miss something and have to constantly go back and rewatch multiple times just to figure out what was done.

Thank you all so much for your feedback!

It sounds like what would be most helpful is to have a video with voiceover that goes slow enough to demonstrate the steps, and supplement that with a printable set of step-by-step instructions.

For time management’s sake, what I may do is make the instructions text-only without screen captures, or with very limited images, and you can reference the video if something in the written guide is confusing.

That sounds a good compromise. Instead of the photos you could probably add a "see at mm/ss" note in the written instructions to refer to the relevant part of the video. I've also seen videos which seem to have 'chapters' for the want of a better word. I've never made a video myself so I'm not sure if that is limited to certain video creation formats.

I'm up for anything! I always seem to learn something even if it's something I know. Just to see how others do things is interesting!

I love when I watch a tutorial and can jump to the chapters. I believe it's something that anyone can do on YouTube but don't quote me on that.

I'm with you. I see it the most on YouTube and have been told it can be done by anyone. But so many of the creators on there are too lazy or don't want to learn how to do it. (IMO)

I promise, I'll investigate what it takes to add chapter markers on YouTube and we'll get it set up for y'all. Thank you for being direct and telling us what you'd like to see!
